Historic surplus sharing event
Last year, we were proud to declare surplus sharing to our General Risk pool clients, it was the first time at Amanah Insurance to declare a surplus sharing and even in the entire Somali insurance market.
In an emerging insurance market with a limited premium base, achieving this was not an easy Job, but it was an important step towards earning the trust of our esteemed clients and to prove the practicality of Takaful Insurance model in Somali Insurance industry and how it differs from existed conventional insurance.
Surplus sharing in Takaful Insurance models occurs when surplus funds generated from the Takaful pool due to favorable claims experience, investment returns, or other factors, after covering claims and expenses this is when declared surplus distributed back to participants based on predefined profit-sharing or surplus distribution mechanisms according to the surplus distribution formula specified in the takaful contract.
The Principal aim of surplus distribution mechanism in a risk-transfer takaful model is to provide Risk pool participants with a competitive and fair return on their Policy contributions at the end of every financial year if the company declared surplus in Risk pool, while ensuring that the takaful operator is compensated for its services and risk assumption.
This achievement demonstrates our efforts at Amanah Insurance to on build confidence towards the Takaful insurance practice, and to show our esteemed clients how risk-transfer takaful model can offer additional value and tangible financial returns beyond their primary insurance expectations.
