I often hear child welfare leaders talk about how we must "empower" parents. This implies that parents are powerless... they are not.   Parents and families have the power to organize and use their collective strength and wisdom to create change. We are seeing this happen all over the nation, and this is why our movement has so much momentum!   We've advocated from day one for child welfare leaders to be willing and open to share power with parents. That means working alongside those most impacted by the system so that everyone can benefit. This is not a way one-way street.
