When we were asked to transform an event concept in the heart of Provence into a meaningful story in 2023, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. The picturesque Luberon, with its famous ochre mountains, had already been chosen as the perfect setting for this upcoming event. While we aren't designers, our passion for colour runs deep. (Stephanie Speckmann already had tons of books on colour in our office and had even attended colour making workshops herself years ago, also in France, by the way.) It was clear that our focus would be on pigments, the craft of colour making, and the inspirational process behind it — thus combining our clients' craft of developing vibrant and deep colours with the rich history of the region. Thankfully, Mazda Motor Europe (the semi-secret client here) trusted our vision. Together, we delved into the world of colour, its psychology, the creative process behind the scenes and conducted insightful interviews with designers and pigment experts. This collaborative effort was the key to the event's success. Fast forward to the beginning of June 2024, Mazda invited European design- and lifestyle-savvy journalists and creators to the South of France and hosted the first-ever Mazda Colour & Pigment Workshop. Because of a lucky coincidence, we just received a message from a former client who mentioned a holistic communication concept we developed for them years ago. This concept included promotional and event elements, classic PR, and influencer relations. It's been 8 years since we first created it, and it's still actively in use.
