September 15- October 15 celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States. This is a time for recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. September 15- October 15 represents the time frame which Hispanic countries gained independence. The countries include Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the culture through education, music, dance, folklore, arts, and food. Many school, church, and organization events are held to honor the Hispanic culture during Hispanic Heritage Month. February, #BlackHistory Month: Black History Month celebrates the often overlooked achievements of Canadians from the Black community. Yet, systemic racism persists, hindering equality of opportunity. Originating in Ontario as a response to injustice, this month reminds us of the ongoing need to combat systemic racism. Inclusion is key to promote diversity and equity. It involves recognizing the value of each individual and creating equal opportunities, regardless of ethnicity. To address systemic racism, we must: #Educate and raise awareness #Engage in community initiatives #Stand as allies with marginalized individuals Hold ourselves and institutions #accountable Together, through recognition and action, we can build a fairer, more equitable society for all in Canada. Together, by recognizing the importance of inclusion and taking concrete actions to combat systemic racism, we can work towards building a fairer, more equitable, and resilient society for everyone in such an extraordinary space as Canada. Arts and Heritage agencies including government’s statutory advisers, civil society organisations, schools and Universities and funding agencies need to ask themselves the following: why they have failed in educating the British public about Britain’s historical connections with the migrant/Diaspora communities and why they have settled here; how they are going to change the history and heritage narratives that they have been advocating todate in the light of what we are seeing on the streets in today’s Britain; how they will reassure and be accountable to the 2nd,3rd,4th generations of Black and Brown people who have been told they are not English and to go back home; how they are going to dismantle the institutional racism in their organisations and finally whether they are going to continue with their little pet projects on diversity/inclusion instead of going back to the drawing board to see how they can change the way they communicate  UK’s ‘Brutish’ history and reconstruct English/Scottish/Welsh history, heritage and identity .
