Mascoma Bank's latest Power Hour session with the Mars Hill Group focused on the history and importance of Juneteenth, which became a federal holiday in June 2021 and celebrates freedom. It commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved Americans in Texas received word that they were free—more than two-and-a-half years after President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Mascoma Bank employees are invited to a variety of Power Hour sessions throughout the year hosted by CoAlign, an employee resource group that provides opportunities for education and open discussion on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

We evaluate, refine, and validate the FIBER 27-item scale developed by Berrone et al. (2012) as a psychometric instrument to measure the socioemotional wealth construct (SEW), defined as affective endowment embedded by family owners in their business.
