As the 2024 Formula 1 season comes to an end with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, it’s hard to deny that it’s been a season filled with highs, challenges, and the unmistakable buzz that only F1 delivers. Max Verstappen though continued his run securing his fourth consecutive World Championship, we did see how 7 different drivers winning races breaking the domination of Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology. McLaren Racing and Scuderia Ferrari ‘s consistent fight kept the season unpredictable till the last race while Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team faced had many challenges in figuring the cars out and bringing back to winning form. 🚩The post-season testing in Abu Dhabi offered teams a crucial opportunity to lay groundwork for 2025. Notably, young drivers like Oliver Bearman and Jack Doohan showcased their potential, while teams like Ferrari tested new components in preparation for next season. Aston Martin seemed poised to challenge the front-runners, a promising sight after their early-season slump. However, the show stopper was Sainz in a Williams Racing car as he was faster than the rest of the drivers including Tsunoda in a Red Bull. 🙅♀️The FIA’s handling of driver communication stirred considerable debate this year. The decision to clamp down on the use of profanity over team radios after incidents with Yuki Tsunoda and others was met with mixed reactions. For many, it felt like an unnecessary restriction on the raw, emotional nature of the sport . Step forward in order to reinforce the primacy in motorsport.

Consistency is important. If you do it once, you can do it again. At the Formula 1 race in Miami, Oscar Piastri had the fastest lap. Lando Norris won the race. McLaren Racing has a bright future for the rest of 2024. Both of their cars out performed Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology and Scuderia Ferrari. In the next 3 or 4 races, McLaren will likely overtake Ferrari in the constructors. The race pace for McLaren beats the pace for Ferrari and Red Bull. Doing something once makes it a great moment, but it doesn't make you great. To be great, you have to be consistent. If McLaren can put together another good race in Italy, the game will be on. Verstappen wins a lot because of his consistency. Plenty of cars can beat him in one lap. But can you do it lap after lap? Being consistent in excellence is more important than being excellent once.

https://lnkd.in/e4Pdm6bG Congratulations to Charles Leclerc and Ferrari for winning the F1 in Monaco. The Championship becomes more interesting, unfortunately the races not. The more equal the race cars the less action we can aspect on the track. The qualification become, in special on street circuits, more important in the whole weekend since overtaking is nearly impossible. Why not make some changes to make it like with DRS more interesting: Why not prohibit a tire change within the first 10 laps of a race? Or, introduce Tracksplit to circuits so overtaking give drivers a little bit more hope during a race. Although it still would be hard in Monaco, at least there is a much bigger opportunity to make an attempt. Now it is boring to watch and for drivers to race.

And further up in the fight at the front, such margins are defining whether drivers are getting stuck in a chasing pack battle or can enjoy some clean air to gun for a podium. As Mercedes technical director James Allison said recently: “Around the part of the battle we're fighting, a few hundredths can make a difference sometimes and a couple of tenths would make all the difference in the world.” One of the critical factors in hitting or missing those hundredths or tenths is tyre preparation in qualifying – for if you miss the window then your hopes are pretty much game over. But the process of finding the peak performance is far from straightforward and it is one that drivers and engineers spend hours on grand prix weekends trying to better understand and exploit.
