🇱🇹 🎉 🌟 Lietuvos Dainų Šventė - The Power of Brand Positioning During my school years, I participated in the Lithuanian Dance and Song Festival "Lietuvos Dainų Šventė." This event left an indelible mark on me and exemplifies effective brand positioning. Its brand was built through authentic experiences and a deep love for our country, not flashy ads. Today, the festival attracts thousands without aggressive marketing, showcasing successful brand positioning. Yesterday I had the honor to experience the magic night with more than 3800 performing people on stage, and I see parallels between this event with product brand positioning cycles: ✔ Introduction: Building awareness from an early age, just as I started dancing in 1st grade. ✔Growth: Establishing emotional connections, like the growing excitement for each festival every 4 years. I danced at 3 festivals and try not to miss any upcoming ones as a visitor. ✔Maturity: achieving widespread recognition and loyalty, with many participants attending 10, 20, or more festivals. ✔Sustaining: maintaining relevance without heavy advertising for 100 years, relying on a strong love for the brand and its values. In 2003, UNESCO declared the Song Celebration Tradition a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, and in 2008, it was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Let this magic last forever, as well as our love for our country 🇱🇹, traditions, and values. As well as our love for many other good brands in our lives!

The Lantern Festival  (traditional Chinese: 元宵節;  simplified Chinese: 元宵节; pinyin: Yuánxiāo jié),  also called Shangyuan Festival (traditional Chinese: 上元節;  simplified Chinese: 上元节; pinyin: Shàngyuán jié),  is a Chinese traditional festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar, during the full moon. Usually falling in February or early March on the Gregorian calendar, it marks the final day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations.  As early as the Western Han dynasty (206 BC–AD 25),  it had become a festival with great significance. During the Lantern Festival, children go out at night carrying paper lanterns and solve riddles on the lanterns  (traditional Chinese: 猜燈謎;  simplified Chinese: 猜灯谜; pinyin: cāidēngmí).  In ancient times, the lanterns were fairly simple, and only the emperor and noblemen had large ornate ones. In modern times, lanterns have been embellished with many complex designs. For example, lanterns are now often made in the shape of animals. The lanterns can symbolize the people letting go of their past selves and getting new ones, which they will let go of the next year. The lanterns are almost always red to symbolize good fortune. The festival acts as an Uposatha day on the Chinese calendar.  It should not be confused with the Mid-Autumn Festival;  which is sometimes also known as the "Lantern Festival" in locations  such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Lantern Festivals have also become popular in Western countries, such as the Water Lantern  Festival held in multiple locations in the United States.

This Saturday, Jan Roguz was a panelist in the discussion "You Can't Dance on a Dead Planet," which took place in Łódź as part of the Audioriver festival. Jan shared the initiatives we've been implementing with the organizers of the Electrum Up To Date festival for the past two years to reduce emissions and the environmental impact of the event. While these actions might seem small in the broader context of what's needed to slow the climate crisis, they represent a collection of practices and behaviors that are incredibly important in the ever-evolving concert and festival industry. We believe this is a blueprint that will influence the direction in which this industry develops in Poland. 🤝 In production, we choose local suppliers, and festival scenography is created primarily through upcycling and adhering to circular economy principles. We use installations and items that were also used in previous editions. 🚌 To reduce our carbon footprint, we promote and support public transportation. Many artists, whenever possible, travel to Białystok by train. We ensure our cars are always filled to capacity. The festival also had a shuttle bus that transported participants from one location to another. Using local suppliers also contributes to lower emissions. 🌿 In the gastronomic area, we introduced reusable cups. We encourage our partners to abandon single-use plastics. Water is sourced from Podlasie! Sparkling water is sold in glass bottles, while still water is served directly into cups or personal bottles from bulk containers. 👚 Our festival merchandise has been replaced with second-hand clothing, which we enhance to become fashion gems. Participants can also decorate their own clothing with current festival prints. These are the most visible steps toward creating a low-emission, environmentally conscious event. In the coming years, these efforts will be expanded with even more initiatives aimed at a greener music industry. It's gratifying to see how our knowledge and experience contribute to changes in the cultural sector. We hope this persistence will inspire other organizers, institutions and entities. Happy Dragon Boat Festival. Our holiday is from June 8th to 10th, we would back on 11th .! The Origin of Dragon Boat Festival. According to legend, Qu Yuan, an ancient Chinese poet and statesman, threw himself into the Miluo River to protest against political corruption. In order to protect Qu Yuan’s body, the locals raced out in boats, beating drums and splashed water with their paddles to scare away fish and evil spirits. Rice stuffed in bamboo sticks were also left in the river so that the fish would leave Qu Yuan’s body alone after they had eaten enough. In ancient Chinese culture, dragons were considered powerful deities associated with water, rain and rivers. The worship of the river dragon often occurred during the summer solstice to ensure favorable weather conditions and abundant harvests. Dragon-shaped boats are used to ward off evil spirits and to protect the waters. Some say that the river dragon would only accept the rice offerings if they were bundled in chinaberry leaves and tied with 5 different colored silk threads. The practice is later developed into the tradition of Zhongzi. Since then, on the fifth day of May (fifth month) in the Chinese lunar calendar every year, the tradition of the Dragon Boat Festival is born. Celebrating Unity and Craftsmanship The Dragon Boat Festival is not just food and races, the core of the whole festival is built on collaboration and resilience to achieve a common goal. With the unity of each rower's strength, they propel themselves forward to the finish line with synchronized rhythms and seamless coordination. Creativity is also a celebrated theme in the Dragon boat festival. The intricately carved dragon boat designs, with the flowing pattern of the boats tells a story of creativity and imagination. It is an enchanting piece of artistry that links between human tradition and the nature that surrounds it, contributing to a sense of cultural identity.

The festival season has started again! 🎊 I recently came across an article from NOS that really resonated with me. As festivals gain popularity this year, they also seem to be getting more expensive. Before Taylor Swift's Eras tour, Singapore "enjoyed" its own cheapo Fyre Festival. RICE Media reports: "When lifestyle content creator Natasha Conceicao pulled up at Sentosa Sky Lantern Festival on February 21, her expectations were already pretty tempered. Having witnessed the magic of Chiang Mai’s sky lanterns firsthand, she was under no illusions that this would be the same experience. What she didn’t expect was confusion and chaos. Event organisers Asian Couture and Boutique had promised festivities featuring floating paper sky lanterns—the same kind typically released up into the sky in Taiwan and Thailand... ... ...Instead, the festival attendees—who’d paid $50 each, mind you—were offered the paper sky lantern, an LED light to simulate the candle, and markers to pen their wishes." Welcome to the other side of Singapore, where entertainment expenses are a bit more down to earth. "With no flames involved, instead of glowing in the night sky, the flaccid paper lanterns hung from barricades around Palawan Green, looking as deflated as attendees’ spirits." Now this is a pretty blatant breach of contract. But for $50, who would sue? Especially with procedural rules that don't exactly encourage class action. Which leads to a resolution every bit as deflating as the debacle itself. "More than a month on, there’s finally some semblance of a resolution. 68 event attendees who reported the issue to the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) will receive full refunds, CASE President Melvin Yong said in a media release on March 27th. To report the issue and receive follow-ups from CASE, though, consumers must pay a membership fee of $27.25 and a $10.90 administrative fee. Say the complainant bought one $50 ticket—they’re effectively only getting $11.95 back." 🤣 It gets weirder. Supposedly: "The police have also gotten involved and are looking into the matter, though it’s not clear who filed the report and why. After all, the event did take place. It was just massively underwhelming." The same police who refused to investigate Do Kwon? Is incompetence a crime now? "“After reading about how the lanterns would be released—tethered then brought back down—we thought it must be quite smart for someone to have worked around Singapore’s strict regulations, and we wanted to see how it will unfold,” she explains." Just how "smart"? "The root of the problem was the organisers’ failure to comply with fire safety regulations. A trial run two days before the event had resulted in a small fire and was hence deemed unsatisfactory, a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesperson told media. Organisers also didn’t have proper tethers for the sky lanterns, enough fire extinguishers, or safety marshals, said SCDF." 🤦🏻 But rest easy: "She told RICE that the rescheduled sky lantern event would be “available in the next upcoming months”." At least the organiser is not deflated. 🤷🏻
