What is Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)? DVT is when a blood clot develops in a blood vessel, usually in the legs. These clots pose a risk as they can move to the lungs and get stuck, leading to a life-threatening condition called Pulmonary Embolism (PE). Chase Kessinger, Ph.D., is researching the links and treatments of DVT and PE. Learn more and support Dr. Kessinger's research at mmri.edu. #blotclot #stoptheclot

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a condition characterized by the formation of blood clots in the deep veins of the body, typically in the legs. Treatment for DVT aims to prevent the clot from growing larger, to reduce the risk of complications such as pulmonary embolism (when the clot breaks free and travels to the lungs), and to prevent the formation of new clots. https://bit.ly/3U95I1r #Deepveinthrombosis #DVT #bloodclots #pulmonaryembolism #thrombolytictherapy

PULMONARY EMBOLISM A pulmonary embolism is a blood clot that blocks and stops blood flow to an artery in the lung. In most cases, the blood clot starts in a deep vein in the leg and travels to the lung. Rarely, the clot forms in a vein in another part of the body. When a blood clot forms in one or more of the deep veins in the body, it's called a deep vein thrombosis (DVT). #snsinstitutions #snsdesingnthinkers #designthinking

What are #DVT and #PE❓ DVT or Deep Vein Thrombosis and PE, Pulmonary Embolism are blood clots. Many things about DVT and PE are similar but what separates them is where the blood clot is located🩸 ⚪️DVT is a blood clot located in the large veins of your arms or legs💪🦵 ⚪️PE is a blood clot that has broken off and moved into your lungs. PE can be life-threatening and must be treated quickly🫁 To learn more about DVT + PE this #NationalBloodClotAwarenessMonth visit the link below to access our free DVT + PE Discussion Guide⬇️ https://lnkd.in/e7_3nWGP

Super interesting case of congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries. The atrioventricular valves follow the ventricle La-> tricuspid valve -> Right ventricle ->ao RA -> mitral valve -> left ventricle-PA Technically the blood flow is going to the correct locations. What has happened here is the ventricles have swapped places. Down the line this can result in heart failure due to the RV taking on systemic circulation for an extended period. Pressures that it was not built to handle.
An interesting case of today ,Atrioventricular and ventriculoarterial discordance, also known as congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (CCTGA), In this fascinating cardiac malformation, the morphologically left atrium (=pulmonary venous atrium) is connected via a tricuspid valve with the morphologically right ventricle, from which originates the aorta, while the morphologically right atrium (= systemic venous atrium) is connected via a mitral valve with the morphologically left ventricle, from which originates the pulmonary artery. Therefore two discordant connections, atrioventricular and ventriculoarterial (= double discordance).

#aortic_thromboembolism lola , a 4 years old female orange Persion cat was presented with a sudden onset of pain and hind limb paralysis on examination : - bilateral cyanosis of hind limb paws - abscence of femoral pulse - very cold hind extremities - dyspnea saddle thrombus is an emergency case that needs a rapid intervention unfortunately the prognosis for a full recovery in bilateral thromboembolism is guarded to poor N.B : this cat had a history of coughing and dyspnea during the last 8 months #saddle_thrombus #orange_cat_syndrome what is your favorite diagnostic tool ? 👇
