October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and as employers, we play a vital role in supporting the health of our teams. Breast cancer affects both women and men, and while death rates among women have decreased by 42% from 1989 to 2021 due to early detection and improved treatments (Source: American Cancer Society), there’s more to be done. We can contribute to this progress by: ▶ Encouraging open conversations about health ▶ Supporting time off for screenings ▶ Raising awareness of risk factors and symptoms ▶ Offering wellness programs and emotional support Let’s ensure our teams feel supported and informed. Together, we can make a difference—because every life is precious. The latest American Cancer Society (ACS) 2025 report highlights challenges and opportunities for cancer prevention, early detection, and care. Here’s what we see as the most important takeaways for health systems – Every year, we see both the harrowing news, and the good news too—this report is a wake-up call, but it also shows that solutions exist—and they work. At CancerIQ, we’re partnering with health systems to turn data into action, expand access, and build a future where cancer is caught earlier and survival rates soar. https://lnkd.in/dQJqPzyR #EarlyDetection #ClosingTheGap #CIQImpact #CancerIQReach

$20,000!! That is about the monthly cost of my breast cancer management meds to reduce recurrence risk. I’m currently taking Verzenio (twice a day for 2 years), Lupron (monthly for 5-10 years), Anastrozole (daily for 5-10 years), Zometa (semiannually for 3 years), and Calcium+Vitamin D (5-10 years). Fortunately, I am a military spouse and have paid nothing towards my cancer treatment. However, we all know this is not the case for most Americans. It is horrifying to hear stories about the financial burden of cancer in my breast cancer groups from patients who must decide between daily living costs and treatment. While organizations like Susan G. Komen and the American Cancer Society offer valuable resources, if you're aware of other resources or individuals who can offer financial support to the breast cancer community, please share them in the comments or tag knowledgeable contacts. I'd like to put together a comprehensive and current list of resources. https://lnkd.in/eFSu3n6q #breastcancer #communityengagement #financialresources #healthcareresources #healthinsurance
