This first-of-a-kind licence helps unlock the production capability for our synbio tech companies and gives Cauldron the confidence to rapidly erect fermentation facilities that achieve significantly lower cost of goods at a fraction of the capital expenditure of traditional batch fermentation. Cauldron is the first in Australia to hold a licence of this nature at the 10,000-litre scale. #precisionfermentation #hyperfermentation #manufacturinginnovation
Cauldron Ferm has received regulatory approval for production trials of animal protein ingredients via precision fermentation in batches of up to 10,000 litres from the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR). This first-of-a-kind approval at the demonstration scale (10,000 litres), establishes Australia as a global leader in biomanufacturing and significantly de-risks Cauldron’s hyper-fermentation technology and Australian-based precision fermentation technologies. Based in regional NSW, Cauldron is excited to be building this high value industry, especially as it delivers so many benefits to rural economies. In breaking news, precision fermentation manufacturing company Cauldron Ferm has just been approved for a trailblazing and first-of-its-kind license from the Office of the Gene Technology Regulatory (OGTR)! 🌟🚀 Through the OGTR's progressive approach to licensing manufacturing facilities, Australia further solidifes its position as a global leader in cellular agriculture. 💪 After finding negligible risk to the environment, staff and community the OGTR has granted Cauldron a DIR200 license, which provides approval for Cauldron to produce a range of precision-fermented proteins (including dairy milk, chicken egg, and spider silk) in 10,000L batches. Whilst the license does not permit the use of these proteins in human food, the trial will enable the development of systems, processes and data to accelerate the development of precision-fermented ingredients - which will be essential to see companies producing precision-fermented ingredients transition to commercial scale. 📈 🏭 Notably, the DIR200 license also creates an opportunity to significantly reduce the capital expenditure required to set up new infrastructure compared to other license types. 💰 This approval will create new opportunities not only for the cellular agriculture sector, but for farming, advanced manufacturing and regional development! Well done to Michele Stansfield and the Cauldron Ferm team for this milestone achievement. 👏 Read the full press release 👉 https://lnkd.in/ggYCEKEv
