The Police National d’Haiti (PNH) budget for this year is $17MM USD, for approx. 9,000 police officers in a country of 12 million people. The UN’s mission cost for 1000 police officers in Haiti is $300MMUSD! 11 months after the UN’s October, 2023 “action to save Haiti,” 426 police officers are are on the ground in Haiti at a cost of $100MM USD. The mission is currently $200MM USD short of it’s funding requirement. A far better solution is to properly fund and train the PNH, increase numbers appropriate to a country of 12 million (the neighbouring Dominican Republic police service has near 37,000 employees) and deliver the right equipment needed to provide security for the people of Haiti. Why does the UN continue to throw money at Haiti with little benefit to the Haitian people? Where does the money go, other than making UN personnel, FOB and rich Haitians richer? Why doesn’t the legacy mainstream media ever investigate the UN corruption and waste? Antonio Guterres @unitednations @bbcnews @skynews @cnn @willgrant @jeremybowen
#HaitiNews | PORT-AU-PRINCE —The Multinational Support and Security (MSS) mission in Haiti now comprises 426 members. As anticipated, 24 Jamaican military and police officers, along with two Belizean military officers, arrived in Port-au-Prince to bolster the Kenya-led MS. The multinational force is tasked with assisting the Haitian National Police (PNH) in combating gang violence and restoring state authority. Learn more - https://lnkd.in/eF-Qehbs
