Mass Timber Group’s Post

🏗️ A Mass Timber Symphony 📝 Groton Hill Music Center in Massachusetts 📰 Here's what we learned from the project teams:   This building showcases where music meets nature:    👉🏼 Southern Yellow Pine, selected for its warmth, sustainability, & regional resonance, forms the backbone of this innovative structure.   👉🏼 The concert hall alone incorporated approximately 1 million board feet of glulam.   👉🏼  A user-centric approach led to a virtual reality model, which allows musicians to experience the concert hall and provide feedback early in the design process.   ♻️ The result of this collaborative effort is a building that not only meets the functional needs of a world-class music center but also serves as an inspiring testament to the potential of mass timber construction. The project showcases timber's beauty, versatility, and sustainability, proving its suitability for even the most demanding acoustic environments.   📰 Read the full article to see what the #AEC and mass timber teams had to say about their experience working on this magnificent project. . . . ❓ What project should we cover next? Revolutionary building material! Very impressive. We too are curious how the sound resonates in the space. Also, could you share west other building materials were integrated into the space besides MT? Any steel or concrete and if so were they low-carbon? Any other eco-friendly components?

Normally when you think about accoustics and mass timber - it's how to mitigate sound rather than how it enhances sound. Interesting to see it how the sound experience is enhanced through wood.
