Today's Parent Involvement Advisory Committee meeting with the Toronto District School Board offered an insightful discussion. One parent shared their frustration regarding the transfer of knowledge to the school council. They expressed difficulty navigating through lengthy 100-page PDF documents when seeking answers to their questions. This experience resonates with similar challenges faced in corporate environments, where detailed process documents are often provided to new team members. However, instead of receiving direct assistance when questions arise, individuals are directed to sift through numerous documents to find answers, resulting in stress and inefficiency. A more constructive approach to fostering productivity involves implementing a thorough and dedicated handover process. Investing in effective knowledge transfer can yield manifold benefits for all parties involved. Simply providing extensive documentation is not a sufficient handover strategy. Letting people read 💯 pages is not handover. #handover #corporateculture
Insightful indeed....

9moCan't agree more! It's like handing over the slide notes to the audiences instead of delivering the presentation. Although people do not like reading a bunch of pages, from corporation perspective, I feel there's a necessity of having a detailed process document. The 80/20 rule can come off as a solution. Each process document should contain a summary of 1/5th of the document size where most of the questions will be addressed.
