7moIt would be nice if they provided this protection in practice. States are working hard to narrow the limited protections IIAs provide to investors, and even where claims are successfully brought awards give disappointing compensation to investors. When the world needs multi-trillion dollar investment from the private sector to navigate the energy transition, the timing of this trend away from reliable, enforceable frameworks for international investment couldn’t be worse.
