𝗧𝗵𝗲 “𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀” 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀, 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀... Last week, I joined our Data & AI - Energy Networks team offsite in the beautiful city of Hamburg. Together, we visited SH Netz, one of E.ON’s DSOs that operates the grid in Schleswig-Holstein. Malgorzata Cybulska and her team organised an extremely welcoming visit. It had it all:  • We saw an insightful overview of the SH Netz operations and the challenges they face.  • We learned about the #GridInfrastructure and looked at concrete examples of digital #innovation in the grid business.  • Finally, we saw the overhead line maintenance process, observing the technicians’ virtuous work at the 110kV power line tower in good (according to them) and extreme (according to us) weather conditions. Personally, I think it was a great learning experience about the core E.ON business. Operating 1.6 million km of energy grids, E.ON has an equally important and challenging mission — to digitise the grid and make the energy transition work. This visit has helped me to better understand the scope of the task at hand and also emphasised the importance of synergy & collaboration between the business and data experts. At the same time, it was a great opportunity to connect with my Data & AI colleagues and get a better understanding of the context in which their innovative digital solutions are born.
