The Sindh Agriculture Department has released an initial report on the damage caused to crops by recent heavy monsoon rains.
Sindh Agriculture Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Mehar revealed that the floods have inflicted an estimated loss of Rs 86.86 billion on farmers, affecting 541,351 acres of crops across Sindh.
The report details specific damages: 293,580 acres of cotton, 35,271 acres of rice, and extensive losses in date palms, sugarcane, tomatoes, sesame, onions, chili peppers, and vegetables.
Cotton and date palms saw significant losses of 21% and 41%, respectively.
