Kerala's 2022 Ease of Doing Business ranking is celebrated as a major milestone, but the key question is whether these central agency certificates reflect real changes in people's lives. Has there been any genuine progress in Kerala’s industrial sector over the past five years? These reports are meaningless unless they bring tangible benefits to the people. For example, the Grasim factory in Mavoor, which shut down over two decades ago, leaving over 300 acres of land abandoned and overgrown with wild vegetation. This land has become a growing concern for local residents as wildlife encroachment has increased, posing serious threats to their lives and livelihoods. Despite these challenges, Grasim continues to manipulate the legal system to its advantage, stalling any progress in redeveloping the area. Meanwhile, leaders from Kerala Pravasi Association (KPA), who are at the forefront of protests advocating for new industries to be established on this land, are facing legal action, further complicating efforts to bring much-needed development to the region. How can Kerala’s leaders, including the Industries Minister, celebrate such reports while ignoring the realities faced by Malabar’s people? The Gwalior Rayons factory issue in Mavoor, once raised by EMS Namboodiripad, needs genuine, worker-friendly solutions before any celebrations are justified. Until then, these reports will continue to be met with skepticism. Firstly, unlike his rivals in the glue market, which earn 60% of their revenue from industrial businesses, 𝐅𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥 earns 80% of its revenue from consumers. This is because, since the very beginning, Balvant positioned Fevicol as a 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 with witty ad campaigns. 📺✨ Secondly, Fevicol does not just sell glue to its carpenters but also helps them grow personally and professionally.
