The Real Estate MeetUp, a significant gathering for entrepreneurs and investors in the international real estate sector, serves as a platform for knowledge sharing and networking. This edition featured Norfin & Arrow Global as special guests. It was an exciting session which featured a presentation by Francisco Sottomayor (CEO of Norfin) and Andre David Nunes (CIO of Arrow Global) on the real estate market in Portugal. Amongst other, Francisco and André tackled: - The housing crisis in Portugal and the shortness of supply in the mid and low residential assets - The growing weight of American investment in the sector - Norfin's ongoing projects, being the wide majority of them located in Lisbon (downtown Lisbon, Carcavelos, Aroeira) and the Algarve (Vilamoura, Palmares Ocean Living and Quinta do Lago). This presentation was followed by a pleasant dinner, during which real estate, the challenges facing the sector, and the upcoming American elections were topics of conversation. Last week (4th), the most prominent real estate investors active in Southern Europe gathered for an online GRI Club Meeting to discuss Cross-Border Investments in Southern Europe. Welcoming expert moderation from António Pereira Dias, Partner & Chief Investment Officer at Bondstone, the conversation addressed the opportunities across sectors in Spain, Portugal, and Italy, revealing that these increasingly attractive real estate investment destinations offer strong economic positioning and a range of opportunities for diversification and returns. 🔹 The region also presents a favourable environment for bargain hunting, where investors can find valuable assets at competitive prices. However, challenges facing investors were revealed to be surrounding obtaining permissions for real estate investments, a process which varies significantly between countries. In Italy and Portugal, the process is notoriously difficult, with long delays that hinder the scalability of investments.
