In music composition, I find it invaluable to seek feedback from those who aren’t musicians. 🎶 Their perspective can provide insights based on casual listening rather than professional critique, which can sometimes cloud creativity.
As musicians, we often overthink our process, meticulously positioning our ideas. When I present two musical concepts to a casual listener and ask for their preference, I frequently hear, ‘Why choose? Can’t you incorporate them both?’ 🤔
As musicians, we often feel pressured to choose one idea over the other. Involving non-musicians can also emphasize the ‘less is more’ philosophy. I might feel compelled to layer additional instruments, yet the feedback often reveals that the existing elements are already engaging. ✨
