It’s fast-paced, intellectually stimulating, and offers continuous opportunities for learning and growth. Which technologies do you enjoy using in your work? I enjoy utilizing DevOps tools like Docker and Kubernetes for seamless automation and deployment. I also appreciate creating test automation frameworks that emphasize modular architecture and adaptability to various environments. Programming in Java and exploring other languages enhance my ability to build scalable and efficient solutions. What is it like to work at 28Stone? Today we are glad to introduce Niklāvs Petraškevics, a frontend developer, father, and technology enthusiast. Here's what he shared with us: What's interesting/special about working for the capital markets industry? I’ve noticed that IT solutions in capital markets often lag in adopting the latest tech, mainly due to strict regulations, security concerns, and the need for stability in financial systems. This cautious, risk-averse approach creates a unique opportunity for us to innovate. By using modern tech, we’re building complex, real-time tools that help people make smart financial decisions - it’s challenging, fast-paced, and has a real impact. What's something you did at your job that makes you proud? There are many small things that, together, make me proud, from implementing complex algorithms and mentoring junior team members to learning something new and sharing it in a brown-bag session. What do you like about working at 28Stone? The best colleagues ever! And I like working remotely. What do you prefer to do in your free time? I have more interests than time to explore them all! These days, most of my free time is spent with my family - my three young kids keep things lively, whether we're playing, exploring nature, or just having fun. When I get a few extra moments, I enjoy video games and keeping up with the latest in computer hardware and tech. I also like diving into new technologies or working on pet projects, including my dream of building a web-based 3D online game, where I've started experimenting with 3D JS libraries and Blender for modeling. I'm also into amateur electronics and RC cars, and I have a big interest in entrepreneurship and marketing - skills I hope to put into practice once life is a bit less hectic! 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲! After a crazy 3.4 years at Decentro, the roller coaster ends! Last week marked my last working day, joining when the 1st wave of COVID-19 was receding to ending on a high! Coming from a 𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 background and having worked on many interesting challenges, 𝘽2𝘽 𝙎𝙖𝙖𝙎 presented a unique learning opportunity for me. Getting to work on 2 major problem statements in the #fintech space - #payments & #onboarding was one of the most interesting & challenging experiences I could have asked for. And yeah, this was in the B2B SaaS space where competition is so intense and the market is so demanding! Joining as the 1st product hire to set up and groom the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 & 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 team for each of them to become top performers in their own right has been nothing short of a privilege for me. I am proud to say that the 8 member #product team is something I am most proud of :) Looking back, I have seen the company grow across multiple areas. • 𝟳𝗫 growth in headcount • 𝟯𝟬𝗫 growth in ARR • 𝟱𝟬𝗫 growth in merchant base • 𝟭𝟭𝟬𝗫 growth in transactions • 𝟭𝟰𝟬𝗫 growth in GMV • 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 Payment Aggregator License holder • Industry-leading 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 Of course, most of these achievements could not have been possible without the support of the broader team across functions and the highly supportive partners we worked with. Playing a small part in their professional journey makes you happy at the end of the day! As for me, I am heading back to the #lending space to put some of my #product & #fintech learnings into play.
