🌉 San Francisco is becoming the global capital for electrochemistry these days. The 245th ECS Meeting #ECS245 is bringing together the most esteemed scientists, engineers, and researchers to discuss and showcase the latest technological advances and the state of the science. #Matteco presented the results of its research in the field of conventional alkaline electrolysis and anion exchange membrane electrolysis during a session entitled 'Accelerated Three Electrode Cell (TEC) Testing for Optimizing Electrodes in Conventional Alkaline Electrolysis and Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis'. Vicent Lloret Segura, our project manager, demonstrated the remarkable performance achieved in electrode optimization tests through the use of PGM-free, Matteco Proprietary Coating Technique (MPCT) for anodes and cathodes. A joint effort with Gonzalo Abellán Sáez, our co-founder and CTO, and Alvaro Seijas Da Silva, that received a positive response at the international conference. Thanks to the ECS - The Electrochemical Society for inviting us to present our research findings. #theelectrochemicalsociety #hydrogen #greenhydrogen #cleantech

Ageing of fuel cells is one of the main challenges for their use in the mobility sector. Highly dynamic operating conditions, like startup and shutdown, pose a serious risk for accelerated degradation of the carbon support structure. This vital topic was dealt with by our colleague Marek Bültel in his Master’s thesis, which was written in collaboration between TLK-Thermo and University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (https://lnkd.in/dgXRdNUU). He implemented a new electrochemical model that allows to predict the local time-evolution of the electrode potential and carbon corrosion at the fuel cell cathode. The model has shown that low temperature and humidity within the fuel cell help to mitigate carbon loss. He was happy to present his successful work at last week’s ModVal 2024 - 20th Symposium on Modeling and Validation of Electrochemical Energy Technologies. If you are interested in the detailed results, please contact m.bueltel@tlk-thermo.com.
