Commercial & Dispute Resolution lawyer at AMK Law, Professional Speaker & Rolling Through Negotiations podcast host
Meet a couple of our most popular family members, Roxy our boy is 11 on the left and Brahma is a girl, she’s 3 on the right. Whilst Roxy is mature and wise, Brahma well she’s still a trouble maker but always happy no matter how much trouble she’s in! But wait.. why am I writing about my dogs here on LinkedIn. Well, because I believe training dogs is a key to keeping them well, safe and on track the way they need to be. And trust me, when I say these guys need a lot of training! Rotties have a lot of power, and as Spiderman says with great power, comes a lot of responsibility”! Same goes with business, life, other family members plus it is the same when it comes to your own health and well being. Since these guys are big dogs and they are always pushing the boundaries it means I have had to learn and develop into a good leader with them too. I need to lead Roxy and Brahma well, plus I need to communicate in the way they understand. Something interesting is to do with the power of thought and intention. Good leadership is vital and it comes with a lot of responsibility. If I say something easy like “sit”, whilst not being present and focussed they won’t listen to me. But if I expect them to sit and my tone of voice means it, well then they do what I say. Doesn’t that sound like your business too… I mean if you speak with intention in terms of your own goals, objectives and mission then isn’t your team much more likely to follow the lead your giving to them. Another thing is these guys love being outdoors, if I ever forget to love country Roxy and Brahma remind me straight away because they’re always smelling flowers and loving what they see. We all need to love Country and appreciate every bit of it. 7moGreat analogy Matthew Karakoulakis. However I can assure you, I have never told a team member to sit with the same tone as I have our rotti cross!
