Obituaries about New Yorkers can be some of the best reading available. This obit about #Falco does not disappoint. The Eagle Owl escapee from the Central Park Zoo represented the spirit of New Yorkers in the best ways possible. “…Scrappy, Stubborn, Resilient…” The symbolism of this beautiful bird is a combination too. Eagle = power & transcendence & Owl = wisdom & intuition RIP #Falco #NYC #parkviews https://lnkd.in/erqpt4TP #nycrentalregulations #NYClandlords #peaceofmind #EnvironmentalTesting #RealEstateSafety #propertymanagement #preventativemaintenance #commercialrealestate #NYCPropertyManagers #realestateagent #trustedprofessionals #NYCRealEstate #PropertyOwners #RealEstateInvestors #ACP5Form #NYCConstruction #leadpainttesting

IN THE HALL OF THE MOUNTAIN KING Standing in line, mildly shaded under the bright 90F (32C) summer day, a windbreaker folded over arms, it seemed ridiculous to hear the suggestion that this group of 15 don their jackets before entering the heavy door at the end of the hall. Moments later, we were all standing and shuffling uncomfortably and chilled; whispered conversations echoed throughout as we experienced absolute pitch blackness when the ranger turned off the lights in the Gothic Palace chamber in the Lehman Caves, Great Basin National Park, Baker, Nevada. This could be the setting for Peer Gynt’s “In The Hall of the Mountain King.” Something is disconcerting about experiencing a complete absence of light, even briefly. Add the cave’s chilly ambient temperature, 50F (10C) degrees, and the experience is almost mysterious or maybe a horror film prequel. The lights came on, and we were starting our 90-minute tour of just a tiny portion of the two-mile-long cave—the longest in Nevada. Although the tunnels are generally tall and wide enough for comfort, this is not a tour for the claustrophobic. The more than two-million-year-old cave, eroded by the marble rock, is filled with gently colorful and towering stalactites, stalagmites, and columns, which drip like rock icicles throughout the cave. Great Basin National Park is well off the beaten path in the small town of Baker. In addition to the caves, it’s home to Wheeler Peak, 13,065 feet (3,982m), the tallest peak in Nevada. #greatbasinnationalpark #greatbasin #wheelerpeak #lehmancaves #caves #karst #cavetour #nationalparks #nevada #visitnevada #bakernevada #bakernv #mountainpeaks

Robinson Crusoe's first steps towards Colonialization: To overcome his fear, the first project is to construct the 'Wall' that keeps him safe. Then, Crusoe gradually spends years to set up a series of enclosures, for cattle and goats and for plantations, which slowly cover the landscape, the island. Crusoe's enclosure gives him a sort of relief and meaning to life because in his enclosed spaces he gains identity and individuality. Therefore, one can claim that Crusoe's enclosure movement is a movement towards identity formation. This enclosing process makes everything inside, and it is his first step towards colonizing the island.

Happy fall! 🍂 Landowner David Hampton planted larch pines in a douglas fir forest in Oregon in the shape of a giant, 300 feet smiley face. Every autumn the larch pines turn orange and the smiley face stands out. Repost: David H. Davis , MS, CWB
