Implement job search benefits for layoffs. Call it jobra, or whatever, but at least arm your prior coworkers with some sort of leg up on the market. For example: 3 months of LinkedIn premium. List of trusted external recruiters—they know your business and what your employees bring to the table. Role/function specific resume template—one that would impress you. Access to a network tree—a simple, optional Google Form where active and prior employees can provide companies or contacts where they are willing to introduce impacted colleagues. I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I believe I have a solution!!! + A 60% salary continuation benefit very similar to how STD, LTD, etc, works. Unemployment often doesn't cover most of people’s bills.

Sounds good in theory Matt, but there are companies locally who don’t offer severance. It’s a head scratcher given bad press will follow.
