💬 “We need to redefine our role as journalists in order to be useful and valuable to the communities we serve.” 💬 “Any reinvention of this profession requires not forgetting that at the centre are the people who consume our informative content. It is to them that we owe ourselves.”   💬 “We need to reinvent, reimagine and reframe our value to society.”   💬 “You're trying to solve something that is pretty intractable. I'm intrigued.” These are just some of the many inspiring comments that I received in response to my latest article, in which I argue that journalism must be reinvented and that we can only start from updating our mission: https://lnkd.in/dKkTkWVK ❓ What do you think? How can we set this reinvention in motion? Let me know through the form you can find at the end of the article, and share it with your network: we need more people to take part in the conversation! cc International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) & International Journalists' Network (IJNet)

For way too long journalism has been the only product out there where the producers haven't really thought much at all about the users. Failing to think deeply about how we represent, include and serve our communities and audiences is what has led traditional journalism business models off a cliff. It's so great to see more and more discussion about journalism's role in society, how we do our job properly and make journalism the force for good that it should be - hurrah for the News Alchemists!
