Mattson EVP, Product Development & Commercialization Jaime Reeves attended the MISTA & Naturally Bay Area event last week. The topics included tips and tricks to meet consumer desires, while also addressing tactical needs. Jaime’s advice for those scaling new products was to be practical by keeping trade-offs in mind. She said, “Make a list of Must-Haves, Like-to-Haves, and This-would-be-great.” Because those of us who do it, know that it’s the hardest thing anyone in the food industry does. Jaime’s team of Mattson Commercialization Managers are the best in the business. They are problem solvers in the moment, in the plant, where scale-up happens!

Who likes Marmite out there ? It’s an acquired taste and it’s not liked by the majority but to the minority, it’s superb, no matter what % is in the product to marmite lovers and in the case of peanut butter, it’s 10%. So, peanut butter marmite is being removed from the product line to be replaced by a number of other exciting products. Those people who are “ Marmite Like “ have a wonderful future ahead in Future of Work. I am absolutely like Marmite, as I want to focus on the 20% who are disrupters and the 3% who do big ticket disruption. I know my market and they are Marmite lovers. Do you know your market for the future ?

At last nights the Product Group London April event, we discussed and shared insights on Product Metrics and Chris Compston shared his perspectives on Product Operations. On Product Metrics we discussed the differences between business and product metrics (some lively and friendly disagreements here), the things to think about when setting product metrics (including business objectives, customers, impact, trackability, simplicity, etc.) and that product metrics have changed in the current environment – a great quote was that we’ve moved “from growth at all costs to the path to revenue”. This was all before Chris Compston took to the chair and provided insights from his hands on experience doing Product Operations. Chris described the differences between the roles. For example how product operations is an “enabler that frees up product people’s time, so they can make better product decisions”. He also talked about how product operations delivers value through focusing on the operational aspects that then gives product people more time to think about and drive their products forward. Thank you Chris Compston 🙏. Thanks to everyone who came and engaged in the lively discussions 🙏. Thanks to Foolproof 🙏 for hosting us and providing the pizza and drinks. See you on 2nd May! #tpglondon #prodmgmt #productmanagement #productoperations

From Idea to Enterprise: My Entrepreneurial Journey with ZVD and Beyond Embarking on an entrepreneurial journey is never easy, but it is always rewarding. When we launched ZVD, an American cuisine restaurant, the goal was clear: to create a culinary destination that stood out for its innovation and customer service. In two years, we took ZVD from a concept to a profitable entity, navigating challenges from market positioning to operational efficiencies. Here’s what I’ve learned: Vision and Execution: A clear vision is crucial, but execution is key to making that vision a reality. Customer Centricity: Always keep your customers at the heart of your business decisions. Their satisfaction and loyalty are your true measures of success. Team Leadership: The right team can make or break your business. Invest in nurturing a culture of excellence and innovation.

As a product manager in the food industry, I'm constantly fascinated by the natural world and the inspiration it can provide for innovation. This image of ants working together to drink from a droplet of water is a perfect example. Did you know that these ants have intuitively divided themselves into four groups to maintain the balance of the water droplet? This is a remarkable example of cooperation and teamwork in the animal kingdom. In my role, we're always looking for ways to improve our products and processes. And sometimes, the best inspiration comes from the most unexpected places. What are some examples of how you've seen nature inspire innovation? Share your thoughts in the comments below! #innovation #nature #inspiration #productmanagement #foodindustry
