“Nunavut and its residents will now be able to make decisions about how public lands, freshwater, and non-renewable resources are used in the territory, AND REAP THE BENEFITS OF RESPONSIBLE AND SUSTAINABLE RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT. Devolution will create Northern-led jobs, opportunities, investments, and more prosperity for Nunavut and its people, for generations to come.” “Nunavut” in the Inukitut language is “our land.” CAPITAL LETTERS are my choice. Well done to the Feds.

Roads in the Philippines: Evolution of Infrastructure Roads have played a crucial role in the development of civilizations throughout history. In the Philippines, the evolution of road infrastructure has been a key factor in connecting communities, facilitating trade, and driving economic growth. From ancient footpaths to modern highways, the history of roads in the Philippines is a testament to the country's progress and development. Ancient Roads and Trade Routes Before the arrival of Spanish colonizers in the 16th century, the Philippines was already home to a network of ancient roads and trade routes. Indigenous peoples used these pathways to travel between villages, trade goods, and communicate with neighboring communities. These early roads were typically narrow and unpaved, following natural contours and geographical features. One of the most well-known ancient roads in the Philippines is the Ilocos Norte-Apayao Road, which connected the province of Ilocos Norte to the remote region of Apayao. This road, also known as the "Death Road" due to its treacherous terrain, was used by early settlers and traders to transport goods... Read more https://lnkd.in/grZVHVqH #Evolution...

Published in 1976, this old archive is filled with nostalgia! Great historical context for Road sector's development in Nepal!! 🌉The New York Times had depicted the then road infrastructure building program as a “big push.” 🏗️From around 235 miles (376 km) of roads, most of which used to be unpaved, at the advent of traditional democracy in 1951, it had expanded to 2000 miles (≈3200 km) by 1976. The large chunk of capital expenditure used to be absorbed by road sectors, most of which would flow from India and the United States as aid. 🌗It is pathetic to know that life expectancy was under forty and the literacy rate was just 15% even by 1976 for then 13 million people.

* Nepal has approved a rail link with China, a project that promises to boost connectivity but comes with risks. * The rail link could transform Nepal's economy, but dependency on Chinese investment raises concerns. * While the project offers opportunities, it also underscores the complexities of geopolitical influences. --- In Nepal, the government has approved a rail link to China, stretching from Kathmandu to the Tibetan border. It's a dream that promises prosperity, bringing trade and travel to a new level. The project aims to strengthen ties with China, offering Nepal a vital link to one of the world's largest economies. Yet, in the pursuit of progress, caution is warranted. The rail link, a symbol of ambition, is also a reminder of the complexities that come with such grand plans. With Chinese investment flowing into Nepal, there’s the promise of infrastructure growth and economic opportunities. But there is also the risk of becoming too reliant on one powerful neighbor, which can shape the nation’s future more than anticipated. For Nepal, this project could be a double-edged sword. The promise of prosperity is tempting, but the costs and implications are significant. As the tracks are laid and the trains start to roll, Nepal must tread carefully, balancing development with sovereignty. The allure of growth can overshadow the potential pitfalls, but history teaches us that every wish comes with a price. In the end, the rail link is more than steel and locomotives; it's a lesson in being careful what you wish for, as ambitions intertwine with realities. #Nepal #China #RailLink #Infrastructure #Geopolitics #EconomicGrowth #Sovereignty

https://lnkd.in/gvHbqC23 Excited to support with the rail portion of this project, which will significantly change Australia's container terminal and supply chain. Rail Scope :Upgrades to the existing freight rail network between Kwinana and Cockburn, connecting the port with a logistic hub in Kenwick, Kewdale, and Forrestfield. About Westport : The Westport project in Western Australia is a major infrastructure initiative aimed at planning and developing a long-term, sustainable freight supply chain for the Perth metropolitan area and the surrounding regions. The project focuses on enhancing the efficiency, capacity, and safety of the freight transport network to support economic growth and improve liveability in the region. The Westport Taskforce, established in 2017, is responsible for leading the planning and development of the project. The taskforce comprises representatives from various government agencies, industry stakeholders, and the community. Key objectives of the Westport project include: Identifying and assessing options for the location, design, and development of a new container port and related infrastructure to meet future freight demand. Assessing the existing freight transport network, including road, rail, and port infrastructure, to identify opportunities for improvement and integration. Engaging with stakeholders, including industry, government, and the community, to gather input and feedback on the project's development and implementation. The project is divided into several stages, including a strategic planning phase, detailed planning and design phase, and implementation phase.
