Hear from our 2024 ECM Summer Intern, Jose! This summer, we had an ECM Intern join the team in the New York office. Our ECM Summer Internship Programme is designed to give a talented and deserving individual, from an underrepresented background, experience in the Finance industry. This year we partnered with the Greenwood Project, a Chicago-based organisation focused on creating career pathways in the Financial Services Industry for Black Heritage and Latino students. The Greenwood Project was instrumental with placing Jose on our programme. To hear how Jose found his experience, please keep on reading! “Heading into this summer, I was extremely nervous as this was my first-ever finance internship. However, as soon as I stepped into the office, I received the warmest welcome from Amy and Brian and immediately felt at home. The team here in New York has been incredibly welcoming and has fostered a very inclusive environment. From day one, I was given my objectives for the summer, and I was thrilled with them as they encompassed everything I could have hoped for and more. Throughout the summer, the team did a tremendous job including me in live deals. My favorite deal was the Lineage Inc (LINE) IPO, which went live late this summer. It was a fascinating project that I delved into deeply. Amy was kind enough to secure us a spot at the team's roadshow presentation lunch. She also arranged for me to attend numerous events sponsored by Maven's sell-side partners, where I met other interns from around the city. These events provided valuable networking opportunities and I learned something new at each one. Another highlight of my summer was visiting the Bloomberg building in person, which was breathtaking. Throughout this summer, I have significantly improved my technical skills by analyzing financial statements and conducting valuations using comparable companies and discounted cash flow methods as part of my summer project. I have also gained a better understanding of navigating a corporate setting and am closer to determining which area of finance I want to pursue to make an impact.” #Summerintern #Finance

Today is International Intern Day. International Intern Day! A day to celebrate the next generation of leaders — our interns! 🎉 This year, we at Beringer have had the pleasure of working with Haris Sheikh, our 2024 Summer Investment Analyst, and we want you to get to know him too. We’re grateful to Haris for his hard work, fresh perspectives, and continuous desire to learn. 7 Questions with Beringer Capital Summer Analyst Haris Sheikh: Q1. What did you want to be when you were a child? A professional soccer player! Real Madrid all the way. Q2. How did you decide on Beringer for your summer internship? I knew someone that had worked at Beringer previously and they had great things to say, but then when I had my interview, I was really drawn in by the culture; everyone was so nice! Q3. The coolest thing about my internship has been_______. Getting to sit with people who run multi-million-dollar businesses, like @Benzinga and learning how they think. Q4. What’s the key learning you’ll take away from your time at Beringer? I’ve learned how to think like a Private Equity Analyst…what to look for in a deal and how the deal evolves over its lifecycle. Also, attention to detail is really important! Q5. You’re a Finance major—do you see yourself being in the Private Equity world as a possible career path? Yes, 100%. I was interested in it before, but this experience really affirmed it for me. Q6: What is your favourite thing about being a part of the Beringer Capital team? The team is incredibly supportive, and the collaborative culture fosters both personal and professional growth. It's inspiring to be part of a group where everyone is passionate about what they do, and where my contributions are valued and recognized. Q7. What’s the most fun thing you’ve done at Beringer this summer? On the social side, they had a welcome event at an Escape Room. I love Escape Rooms—I’ve done 16 of them. I only escaped from 15, though. The one I didn’t get out of was one I did with my parents. 😊 #PrivateEquity #NationalInternDay

This week we welcomed 80 summer interns into our Capital Markets business, representing the top 1% selected from over 6,000 applicants! Some of my most valuable experiences came from my internships, shaping not only my professional life but also my personal journey. During my first one at Arthur Andersen (at the time part of the Big 5!), I discovered two things: that public accounting wasn't for me, but that I had a passion for client management. This realization allowed me to shift full focus to business and finance. The following summer, my interest in technology and finance was sparked during my Hewlett-Packard internship, but I realized I was seeking a more entrepreneurial environment. The final piece of the puzzle was my first job, a short run at tech start-up ReplayTV at the end of the tech boom in ‘99. This was followed by a great opportunity at a high growth start-up, Good Technology. However, I ultimately decided tech was not my passion and shifted my sights to commercial real estate. With the invaluable support of my mentors at Good Technology (thanks Danny Shader, Joel Jewitt), I wrapped up my role there and moved to Dallas to pursue CRE. Without these formative experiences, I wouldn't have discovered my passion, and it’s why I love welcoming new interns to our program at JLL. I hope this experience helps them find their passion and shapes their future as profoundly as my internships shaped mine. #jllcapitalmarkets #internship #future #personaldevelopment #passion

As the summer flies by, we are incredibly proud of the success of our summer internship program at Cayside Partners. Our talented intern, Ryan Spilman, has brought fresh perspectives and energy, contributing to significant projects and learning experiences. It's inspiring to see the growth and dedication of college students. Thank you to our team for mentoring and guiding Ryan along the way. With the summer coming to an end and nearly halfway through the third quarter, we are seeing heightened volatility across markets and asset classes. Negative corporate earnings suprises, weak economic data, increased speculation around elections and geopolitical risks have all contributed to a 70% price increase in the CBOE Volatility Index since the start of the third quarter on July 1st. It’s more important than ever to stay prepared and stick to your strategic plan to best take advantage of the volatility while also protecting capital. Reach out to Cayside Partners for ideas on how we are navigating this unique time for global capital markets and investment opportunities. #multifamilyoffice #RIA #wealthmanagement #summerinternship #riskmanagement #portfoliomanagement

🌟 Reflecting on My First Week at the Capital Markets Group Internship at JLL in Austin. My first week with the Capital Markets Group at JLL in the Austin office has been incredibly successful and enriching! This dynamic market, particularly in Austin and San Antonio, has given me the opportunity to dive into multifamily projects and industrial deals. Throughout this week, I’ve: - Gained insights into the deal processes from start to close - Shadowed the underwriting of deals and identified key metrics - Learned about loan and debt eligibility guidance - Contributed to pitch decks by working on market indicators - Assisted in pulling out comps for deals - Engaged in meaningful conversations with Casey Wenzel and CW Sheehan in separate coffee chats, during which I gained insights on their career paths, ambitions, interests in CRE, their advice for a successful internship experience, etc. What stands out the most is the team culture—an amazing, fun, and beautiful blend of unique, smart individuals. Their curiosity and willingness to share knowledge made my first week unforgettable. Tips & Tricks for the First Week: - Take Time to Adjust: Meet people and get comfortable with the new environment. - Don't Stress Over Information Overload: Ask questions, even the simplest ones. I’ve learned that there's no such thing as a stupid question. - Shadow and Learn: Don’t hesitate to ask to duplicate someone’s work to understand the process better. I’m grateful for this opportunity and excited about the journey ahead! #Internship #JLL #CapitalMarkets #RealEstate #Austin #SanAntonio #TeamCulture #Learning #CareerGrowth
