Here we go! The first video in celebration of our #bookiversary is here! In this clip, Josh explores all things VUCA. When Great Mondays was written, Josh predicted that we'd continue to experience VUCA and culture would be our defense against it. Five years later, it looks like Josh was right! Since the pandemic, workplaces have experienced a lot of uncertainty and volatility. As we are still recovering from the pandemic, re-establishing a strong sense of culture in the workplace can help organizations defeat the uncertainty felt within their teams. Discovering a central purpose and meaning in work can help us find our way forward. While we do not know what the future holds, continued uncertainty is inevitable. It is how we manage the unknown and channel our energy that makes all the difference. We must not be afraid of what lies ahead but rather, recognize that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have a confession to make. I wish I'd made the Forbes 30 under 30. But I knew I wasn't ready. I was employed for starters. Business rewards risk takers. People who start their own thing. The Richard Sutcliffe's of the world - your Freddy Ward's and Christoph Hermann's. These people who start things get recognition. There is glory in being an Operator. I've played that role and loved the journey. Nolo Apps is a different quest. This is ours, and I want to be on the fecking list. So, help me out here. We've got Fast Track 100 pedigree. Now we're proven with the FEBE 100, whatever this is, PwC, I like it. The lists are great. Now, Ecommerce salespeople have a target list for the lead-up to Glastonbury (I'm going, in case you missed that). The Nolo Revolution is coming to the rest of you, whether you made the list or not. The Dark Stack's days are numbered. I'm calling time on Excel workflows invented around the millennium. So yeah, I'm interested in the brands on this list, but I won't be reaching out anytime soon. The Magic of Quick Wins ✨ My fascination with quick wins runs deep. Given I have just started a new role, you'd probably expect me to say that, but for me, it's more than just getting off to a good start. I view quick wins that are grounded in data and delivered as part of a broader strategy as iterative delivery and improvement. They're not just beneficial for RevOps; they're central to commercial success. Reflecting on my days as an enterprise seller, I initially saw demonstrable ROI as the goal. However, I quickly learned that tackling the proverbial whale requires breaking it down, bit by bit. Strategy outlines the destination, but successive quick wins paves the path. In RevOps, this is even more crucial, given our role and positioning in the commercial engine and the broader organisation. Here are some guidelines I’ve found valuable when thinking about quick wins: 👉 Data-Driven: Quick wins should be based on both quantitative and qualitative data. Interviews with stakeholders, using calibrated questions, can illuminate the real business challenges at hand. 👉 Strategically Executed: Focus on actions that yield visible, impactful results or significantly improve situations with the least effort for the most gain. It is a balancing act and I spend a lot of time in the early phases stack ranking. 👉 Foundation Building: Prioritise wins that can form part of the foundation of the strategic plan, that way you are providing short and long term value at the same time. Quick wins might not always be 'quick' in the traditional sense, but remember, speed is relative. Likewise, a 'win' might not always be immediately celebrated, but each positive change is a step forward. The major hurdles? Analysis paralysis and context switching. The solution? Just start. Recall Bezos' concept of one-way and two-way doors: most decisions are reversible. First impressions matter, but a bias towards action is often expected. And focus? It's crucial. Commit to a deliverable, see it through, then move on. I'm always learning in this area and would love to hear others' experiences with harnessing quick wins within a larger strategic framework! #RevOpsReady

When I decided to launch my IT solutions agency, my uncle, who’s seen his fair share of business ups and downs, told me flatly: "You can't manage this agency with your studies. I had the absolute pleasure of joining The Curious Mindset powered by 64TEQ® community event on Friday, featuring the incredible Jason Feifer. One of my favourite sessions so far. The curious mindset is an incredible community for technology leaders, where the brilliant 64teq, coordinate sessions with leading thinkers. This week was all about change, and Jason shared so many insights in 60 minutes. Here are just a few takeaways that resonated: Build a personal relationship with Change: Jason highlighted the importance of developing a personal relationship with change. Understanding who you are during times of change allows for growth and innovation. Proactivity Over Reactivity: Jason’s insight into big companies losing their innovative edge due to a focus on efficiency rather than innovation and adaptation was striking. We have to anticipate change and adapt early, ensuring we're not just reacting but leading with foresight. Build your own Mission Statement: The notion of creating a personal mission statement that remains constant despite external changes in life was powerful. As a proud tech leader, mentor and parent, this one hit home. Life has so many twists and turns and having a clear purpose/ mission can be a great compass. Building Bridges of Familiarity: Jason’s story about the early car industry (just brilliant, but that’s another post) and the concept of the "bridge of familiarity" was great. It reminded us that people don’t dislike new things—they dislike unfamiliarity. Bridging new ideas with familiar concepts can drive acceptance and success. Outcome-Oriented Innovation: Emphasise outcomes over solutions. Deeply understanding the end goals and benefits your customer seeks, this keeps you on track to deliver value. These events are always brilliant. The team work their socks off to ensure each session is value packed with actionable takeaways. Huge thanks to Jason, Jonathan, Bryony Christie Bandish Nayee and the entire community for such another incredible session. If you’re a curious tech leader, get involved.

How many ducks do you need in a row before you get started? But what if.. what if…. It’s actually more or less than what you know now? What if your saying yes in obedience NOW, gives you the opportunity to build capacity for TOMORROW vs thinking about the capacity for tomorrow through the lens of your today? The thing about starting is - it gives you confidence. The thing about seeing something through is you realize, you always had what it takes. Confidence doesn’t come before starting….it expands upon starting and expands more on staying the course even when it doesn’t look like results…. As we kick off into a new month, week, day….we owe it to ourselves to start and to iterate from there. Some companies call their starting ‘experiments’. We are going to experiment on XYZ… And see what the data shows us and leads us. We learn from our outcomes and we do better next time. But we will not let the uncertainty of what could be stand in the way of what can be. What you are waiting on is waiting on you.
