Mark Bale has clarified certain ambiguous qualitative viscosity terminology utilised in the inkjet industry and the role of it in inkjet printing, while also underscoring the significance of dynamic properties over static bulk values. We appreciate his sharing of the #TriPAV high-frequency data and emphasising its crucial role in jetting behaviour. Depending exclusively on matching fluid viscosity and other bulk properties frequently proves insufficient in ensuring consistent jetting. Similar bulk properties in fluids may result in markedly different jetting behaviours, raising the question: -What essential ink properties relevant to jetting are currently missing from consideration? #TriPAV high frequency rheometer is developed specifically for inkjet applications and holds great relevance in inkjet printing. It measures dynamic properties of fluid within the timescale and geometry relevant to printhead channels and waveform conditions, intricately breaks down the complex viscosity of the fluid into its viscous and elastic components which plays a key role in the pumping, jetting and break-up behaviour of inkjet inks. Our clients extensively utilise it for: · Formulating reliable inkjet inks for a wide range of applications and print systems. · Employing it as a quality control tool to distinguish between good and subpar inks, ensuring batch control. · Utilising complex rheology data to predict the optimum jetting temperature and acoustic length for waveform optimization, thereby achieving reliable jetting. · Conducting quality control on ink components, addressing issues related to batch-to-batch variations in ink additives, resins, and binders.
