How student diversity is being addressed in higher education 🎓 Student diversity has now become a norm in higher education levels. Universities and colleges across the globe and far beyond have been gearing towards creating a sustainable and inclusive space for students from different races 🗺 , ethnicities, cultures just to mention but a few. Universities and colleges have put in place strategic training programs in schools to enable students to understand the diverse cultures of different people in order to enhance unity and oneness. Students are however mixed up in different teams so that one is able to engage with someone who is different from him or her. By coming together students are able to communicate the importance of managing biases and embracing each other with love for a better stay in schools ☯ . Schools acknowledge different cultures by hosting cultural festivals where students from different backgrounds converge and share the importance of their cultures. When there are different students from different backgrounds, students feel the urge and are motivated to study as they learn from each other. With this, it enhances creativity and students become open minded creating a better foundation for upcoming generations. LPDP Awardee PK-231 | MA Candidate in Science Education, University College London | Chemistry Teacher for Cambridge and National Curriculum
🌏 Empowering Future Generations through STEM and Socioscientific Education 💡 Graduating from Universitas Negeri Surabaya with a major in Chemistry Education opened my eyes to the expansive field of educational research and its profound challenges. As I embarked on my professional journey, it became evident that education is a dynamic field pivotal to Indonesia’s vision for Indonesia Emas 2045 and the global objectives of the SDGs 2030. One area that has captured my attention is the integration of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) into our education system. Emphasizing STEM is crucial for Indonesia’s advancement through innovation and technological progress. STEM education cultivates critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, essential for equipping students to navigate and contribute to the rapidly evolving global landscape. My prior experience as a science and chemistry teacher provided me with firsthand insight into the transformative impact of STEM in the classroom. Organizing a STEM day at my school, where students engineered a hydraulic pump using syringes and popsicle sticks, marked a highlight in my early teaching career. Witnessing these projects ignite students’ interest in STEM and foster a passion for learning was truly inspiring. Another focal point for me is integrating socioscientific issue inquiry-based learning, which engages students in real-world challenges and enhances their understanding of science within societal contexts. I am actively exploring this approach with the intention of presenting my findings at prestigious international conferences such as ESERA. I am deeply committed to exploring and implementing these educational strategies to enhance the learning experience and empower future generations. By embracing STEM and socioscientific inquiry, we can equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to drive positive change and forge a brighter future for Indonesia and beyond. Let’s collaborate and innovate to cultivate an education system that effectively prepares our students for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow. Please feel free to reach out to discuss ideas and initiatives that can make a meaningful difference! #Education #Teaching #STEM #ChemistryEducation #SocioscientificIssues #IndonesiaEmas2045 #SDGs2030 #FutureGenerations

In Nepal, opportunities for students interested in research are scarce. It's frustrating because it feels like nobody gives a damn about it. Despite the challenges, we're actively collaborating with students from various faculties. If you share a passion for research, we could team up and make something meaningful together. #research

MITz KITS, located in Mwanza, Tanzania, designs and produces STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) education kits. They are expanding their kits after the Tanzania Institute of Education gave them a boost to accelerate growth and roll out their product throughout Tanzania. Incubator expert Frans van de Ven travelled to Mwanza to collaborate with the company in three areas: check value proposition for schools, explore the possibility of starting an incubator programme for students after they graduate, enhance operational excellence and expand the technical production facility. Frans comments: “In the past, students who were taught B subjects like physics only received theoretical classes. ‘Do. Understand’ is MITz KITS’ slogan. The STEM kits fill the gap between theory and practice, making them a hit.” Although setting up an incubator didn’t match with the current competencies, the company can now capitalise on this great opportunity, namely focusing on the core business of designing and producing MITz KITS.” PUM assists to set up, run and optimise business incubators. Like in this case, it does not always match with the project but we find a way to collaborate on improvements.
