A quote from this paper “A programme was put in place with a plan to progress from consultant-assisted procedures (with the consultant scrubbed) through specialist or associate specialist (SAS) doctor-assisted procedures (SAS doctor scrubbed with the consultant immediately available if needed) and finally to independent practice with a consultant available for attendance in theatre if required.” This paper has raised genuine concerns regarding the significant backlog and the imperative for enhanced service delivery, but also a big question of whether SCPs roles in the future might align with those of Physician Associates (PAs) and Anesthesia Associates (AAs), raising the issue of regulatory oversight by the GMC. SCPs should be aware of the historical risks associated with surgery before agreeing to be part of any such pilot program. it's possible that their role could evolve, but that would likely involve careful consideration and discussion among relevant authorities. As for the history, the Gall bladder surgery was also a "surgeon's graveyard," marking the end of many careers. It’s a sombre reminder that there will always be room for more in this unfortunate metaphorical resting place Professor Shafi Ahmed #SurgicalTraining #MedicalEducation #SurgicalSkills #RoyalCollegeofSurgeons #SurgicalSpecialties

Dr. Alex Earle was motivated to enter private practice due to experiences in various hospitals where he felt the true focus on patient care was often overlooked. He has consistently maintained a patient-centric approach throughout his career. @dr.alex.earle's engagement with social media stems primarily from a desire to educate and communicate with patients, allowing them to understand him better. His focus on patient care deepened as he performed more surgeries and his practice matured. For @dr.alex.earle, excellent surgical care extends beyond the operation itself; it includes thorough preparation beforehand and both short-term and long-term postoperative care.
