Marcus Aurelius classifies the people of this world into two categories: “those who are successful and those who are not able to take decisions.” A person who decides on a particular thing wins. Make that choice. The question that we need to ask today is: “Am I able to decide on the priorities of my life and stand by them?” ■ JOHNSON GEORGE ■ (Trainer) Email: mexsys4excellence@gmail.com #choice #success #decisions #priorities #winner

I had the most remarkable experience recently. A redtail hawk landed outside my window as I was standing about 6 feet away. I was overwhelmed by this rare opportunity that suddenly presented itself. I was equally overwhelmed by the majesty of the bird whose kind I’ve seen at best from a distance or through binoculars. We were at eye level and I could clearly see that he was methodically assessing the room, largely ignoring me. From my perspective, I could appreciate his sheer size, and the marvelous color variations in his feathers. And then I settled on his beak. Then the talons. I was struck anew that they were engineered for a single purpose. With this incredible experience came a chilling new respect. In reflecting on those minutes, I realized the parallels between nature and business, particularly in creating a growth strategy. Just as the hawk assesses its environment with precision, profitable growth strategies require a thorough understanding of the company and its competitive landscape. In the same way that the hawk's talons are designed for specific tasks—hunting and survival—growth strategies must be tailored to meet specific objectives, ensuring that every action contributes to our overall goals. Finally, the hawk’s ability to remain focused amidst distractions is a lesson for us as leaders. In a world full of noise and competing priorities, maintaining clarity and focus on our strategic objectives is crucial. I am incredibly grateful for the experience (and that my cat, who normally sleeps in that window, was safely in the other room). I’m grateful too for the reminder that we must remain vigilant and purposeful in our pursuit of growth, always ready to seize the opportunities that come our way. I’d like to hear from you: have you ever learned an important lesson from a chance encounter? — If your company has a bold growth objective, or if you’re experiencing stalled or declining revenue—or both—let’s talk. It’s a sales call only if you want it to be a sales call. #strategy #CEOs #boardsofdirectors #revenuemanagement #growthstrategy #revenuestrategy #revenue #growth
