Another streaming domino falls, will this be good for the consumer and industry? The Walt Disney Company sidesteps their legal headache with Fubo (which was blocking their sports streaming plans), creates the second-largest streaming TV platform behind YouTube TV, and gets a 70% stake in a $6B revenue business. It appears we are watching the streaming world consolidate into just a few massive players. Remember when cutting the cord was supposed to save us money? The deal makes perfect sense for Disney's bottom line, but with YouTube TV and this new Disney-Fubo giant controlling such a significant market share, it's worth considering the long-term impact on consumer choice and pricing. What do you think about the future of streaming competition? https://lnkd.in/gMnRiMKJ.

Amazon is set to become one of the major partners of the NBA when the new TV deal will kick in. NBA wanted to explore as much as possible the streaming market and from this perspective the partnership with Amazon makes all the sense in the world. But with more choices and more platforms available, users are expected to spend more money than usual and not necessarily to watch more games than before. My latest article on BasketNews

More than halfway through the regular season where—and how—have you been watching football this year? 🏈 Upwave's Chris Kelly talks the accelerating transition of sports to streaming, what that means for linear, and how media companies must adapt to stay competitive in the reshaping landscape. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e9ZkbKZD "I predict the inflection point will likely occur earlier than expected, probably in 2027. Sports will be thought of as a streaming experience, not a linear one." #streamingsports #NFL #CTV
