It’s the last day of the Esri UC Expo and we have a brand-new WorldView Legion image to show you exclusively at our booth! You can also see the four other images we released today in person too! Our team will be there until the doors close at 4 p.m. PT, and they can also demo the new Vivid Advanced, Precision3D and MGP Pro for you!
In case you aren’t at #EsriUC2024, here’s more details: https://lnkd.in/gSnuu_5t#EsriUC
Spectacular imagery, congrats. It's going to be interesting to see when this kind of data really starts eating into the aerial providers piece of the pie. Not quite there, but it is getting close.
🚀 Segmenting objects from time series remote sensing images using samgeo with the Segment Anything Model 2 (SAM 2)! 🌊
The demo shows how to segment water from 35 years of #Landsat images (1986-2020) using just three points from 1986.

👏 Congratulations to our very own Hyasmine Briones for having her work published by Esri! Hyasmine utilised satellite data to quantify environmental methane release. Methane is a particularly potent greenhouse gas.
By harnessing the power of satellites to quantify gas emissions and pinpoint their sources, Hyasmine Briones' innovative use of newly available satellite data makes remediation possible in areas where sustainable interventions are practically challenging.

Some great news to start 2024 off right! 🎉
This past July, I was granted an opportunity to create a poster that would be presented in the Map Gallery of the #ESRI User Conference. While I did not get to present the physical poster, it will now be printed in this year's Map Book. My hope is that someone comes across this poster and recognizes the value of #gis for #greenhousegas monitoring and the power of #satellite imagery to display features at high resolution.
An important lesson to learn here is that although something does not go your way the first time, be patient, and you will receive an even better reward.
My poster is also displayed in the virtual map gallery which you can view here: https://lnkd.in/e5R5nx9B
Our paper has just been published in the Photogrammetric Record. Thanks to my co-authors for their contribution and support: Antonio M. G. Tommaselli, Letícia Ferrari Castanheiro, and Mariana Batista Campos
This study presents a real-time vSLAM for omnidirectional systems, adapting ORB-SLAM with a rigorous equisolid-angle projection model. Analysing a 140 m trajectory, it shows fewer discrepancies using hyperhemispherical images, outperforming a generic model like EUCM. Accuracy started at sub-0.12 m, reaching metre-level at the end.

🌟Looking back at SXSW🌟
Last month, I had an incredible experience representing Esri at the SXSW conference in #Austin, TX!
Not only was it a blast exploring Austin for the first time, but what truly made the trip exceptional were the amazing individuals I had the privilege to collaborate with. Huge shoutout to Christie Collins and Rebecca Mettler for entrusting me with #leading our panel.
However, the real stars of the show were Devin Lavigne, Alan Clinton, and George McLeod, whose #expertise and collective #wisdom made our panel truly shine.
Together, we delved into the crucial topic of using #techforgood to #plan resilient #citiesofthefuture. Addressing issues like extreme weather patterns and climate change-related disasters is a global imperative. That's why we showcased how virtual worlds and digital twins, powered by AI, 3D/2D models, and maps, alongside popular game engines like Unity and Unreal, can revolutionize climate solutions.
From academics to community leaders and city planners, these innovations offer tangible tools to tackle climate change, from initial planning to policy implementation.
If you missed it, you can watch the recording here (sadly there was a couple of issues recording the audio): https://lnkd.in/d_dgPQn7
Huge thanks to everyone involved for making this session a success! Let's continue driving positive change together. 🌍💼

Here we can visualize some of the advantages of SAR imagery: clouds are not an obstacle, the signal penetrates through them unlike optical images, and we can identify areas that have experienced changes that are not visible in optical images through the use of interferometric coherence.
