Yesterday, at a dinner, I met Sanjay Rughani, the CEO of Standard Chartered, Uganda, and the Chair of IFAC PAIB Group. Incidentally, Ashfaq Tola and I also found our common Gujarati connection with him. :) After the dinner, Khalilullah Shaikh sb. started this conversation about how managing public service with personal and professional life is inconceivable to most people around us. To which, Sanjay came up with such an apt description of all of us having four lives. ''I have four lives. 1) My life with myself. 2) My life with my family and friends 3) My life as a banker 4) My life with my community. And the design of your 1st life (ie. with yourself) depends on how you want to design your 3rd and 4th life. For example, the books you read, what content you consume, and what kind of a person you become, or want to become, is driven by how you want to shape your 3rd and 4th lives.'' Shaikh sb also added a good perspective. He said, there is 'Barkat', some sort of divine help that comes to you when you give time to others or the community. Somehow, it also adds to your other lives. But as I see it, there is so much more to this. We can explore this topic on deeper levels. I want to hear from you. You may either ask a question or share your insight or life experience. p.s. thanks Muhammad Samiullah Siddiqui and ICAP PAIB for the dinner. #letslearn #givingback #community #training #ingenium

Strategic Communications & Product Marketing Manager | Driving Business Growth through Strategic PR, Branding, Marketing, Storytelling, and Event Management
If you have 1 to 2 minutes to convince Dangote to invest in your business, what would you say? That was a Table Topics question a lady asked me during a Toastmaster International Meeting. Lol! I don't think I can remember what my answer was. But all I can recall is that I went back home, surfed the internet for resources on pitching, and started consuming them. The rest is history now. Pitching is not just about words; it's about conveying a compelling story that resonates with your audience. It's the art of presenting your business in a way that sparks interest and excitement. I came across a video of a governorship candidate promising to put people up in the best hotels if they voted for him. It left me wondering how that could possibly be a solution to the state's problems. Oh, poor guy, I thought. I wished he had learned how to pitch the right way early. I also believe it's high time for trainers and educational institutions to incorporate "Pitching" into their curriculum. If you're reading this, chances are that you would need to pitch your idea to people or others. Don't let yourself down; start now. ............................. Meanwhile, back to my question: If you have 1 to 2 minutes to convince Dangote to invest in your business, what would you say? #Pitching #Investment #Business #Entrepreneurship #nigeria #trendingnow

I don't joke with knowledge and information, I might not need it now but it can be a stepping stone for me in the future. On Tuesday I had an amazing times with these 4 iconic Women Abiola Adediran, MBA, FCA, FIMC, CMC, kehinde kamson, Abiola Adekoya,Toyin Bakare . Such an amazing webinar on Family Business, during my MBA, Family Business was one of the Specialized courses I took and I found it so lovely and interesting. One of the speakers said family business will continue to flourish from one generation to another if they take customer service as a top priority, this will increase the turnover dramatically. Also, in a family business, succession plan and corporate governance is a must have in place by the Business.Even if you don't have corporate governance, you need to have structure that can keep the business running and you must know that family business operations must not necessarily be run by the family members. I remember in one of the lecture, my lecturer told us, in a family business, it's important to get the successor involved early in the business so he or she can learn faster and early. Alot of family Businesses in Nigeria fail or dead after the death of the founders because there was no structure I mean the right structure. Hi Fam, if you remember any family business either existing or not in Nigeria and the world. mention there names in the comment section. #familybusiness #corperategovernance #structure #finance.
