This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, let's celebrate the local businesses that are the backbone of our UK communities! From bustling farmers' markets and charming independent stores to your friendly neighbour selling crafts online, these ventures provide more than just fantastic products. The sunshine this weekend was a mood-lifter, and seeing everyone connecting at local shops and markets was fantastic. Strong social connections are vital for good mental health, and these businesses often become hubs for friendly conversation and a sense of belonging. Let's support them year-round! They're the heart and soul of our communities, and by shopping local, we not only boost our own spirits but also strengthen the bonds that keep us connected. #ShopLocal #MentalHealthMatters #CommunityLove #SupportYourHighStreet

On World Mental Health Day, we highlight the importance of a holistic approach to wellbeing in effectively addressing the crisis of loneliness and the lack of community connection. We stand firm in our commitment to reduce loneliness and social isolation, build emotional resilience, and foster peer support for all in the City of Melbourne. Through Team Elvis Martin’s policy on Rebuilding Community Connections and Tackling Loneliness, we will advocate for neighborhood-specific programs, co-designed with local residents, to foster community engagement and collaboration and strengthen community connections among residents. Our vision is to allocate specific funds in the annual budgets of the City of Melbourne dedicated to initiatives addressing loneliness and supporting small business owners who often face significant stress. Together, we can build a truly supportive environment for everyone in our city one that is not only liveable and vibrant on the surface, but genuinely within the community. Remember, you get two ballot papers! One for Lord Mayor, one for councillors. Above the line Vote 1 for TEAM ELVIS MARTIN on the councillor ballot to support a strong independent team.
