In 6 months I went from doing the best job I’ve ever had to being unemployed, on benefits and on the brink of homelessness. This isn’t a motivational post, I’m moving out in 2 weeks and I’m not sure I’ll get through referencing for any new place I might find, due to being on UC. When I was out of a job in May I was severely naive about how difficult it would be to find a new one - ”couple months tops”. I got close, a handful of final stages, 10-minute presentations, but ultimately they all went to the other candidate. The hardest part I think have been the dead ends. In the last 3 months, the amount of companies that have dragged me through a few interview stages only to ghost me. Started the hiring process before aligning on what they’re looking for. I have a list of people who promised to get back to me ”once they know more” from months ago. I started writing this at 5:30am. The doctor told me last week going on Sertraline may cause lack of sleep at first. Guess he was right. I need a job now, not in a few weeks and definitely not a few months. I’ve applied for the usual suspects, working in stores, customer service, etc.. But I’m asking here too, look at my experience in my profile, do you know of anything that might be a fit? Or anything that might not? I need employment, I wanna be able to complain about work again. (the image is from a flat viewing a few days ago, decided to pass on that one) PS. I realize this post is clout chasey, it's "feel bad for me" vibes, it's not showcasing what I could bring to a company and instead lazily referring to my own profile, it's "everything that is wrong with Linkedin". Had I known it would get the attention it's currently getting, I would've thought it through more, but here we are! I wrote this in a morning haze of a poor nights sleep, not expecting much.
