Last month's inaugural Momentum Summit on Martha's Vineyard brought together Tiffani Daniels, Managing Director, Minnesota Business Coalition for Racial Equity (moderator), shared about launching a million-dollar challenge for Minnesota's First Independence Bank. The campaign actually led to $3.2 million in deposits, which meant the bank can offer more loans to businesses and families looking to buy a home. Brought together philanthropists, foundation leaders and investors to explore the intersection between corporate social responsibility and social justice issues. James Burroughs, SVP, Government and Community Relations, Children's Minnesota, discussed the lessons from Minnesota's public and private sector, while Simone Hardeman-Jones, Managing Director, GreenLight Fund Twin Cities, explained how backing the Let Everyone Advance with Dignity (L.E.A.D.) program, which offers an alternative to policing low-level offenses in the wake of George Floyd's murder, provided an alternative to additional police involved incidents. https://lnkd.in/eAyD9g78 📸: Dena Porter for the MV Times and The Momentum Summit

On August 26, we will celebrate Women's Equality Day and mark the Centennial of the enactment of the 19th Amendment, which said, among other things, that "the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex". This historic event was the culmination of the decades-long struggle of courageous suffragists determined to shape the course of our Republic. On Women's Equality Day, we commemorate the efforts of those groundbreaking activists, celebrate the remarkable achievements of women, and reaffirm our commitment to equality under the law."
