When some of the world’s smartest scientists and some of the world’s brightest engineers pull together, there’s a good chance they’ll probably create some groundbreaking new technologies. To unleash this immense potential, Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc. – our R&D hub in Silicon Valley – just announced new research collaborations with Stanford University and UC San Diego. Stanford has been recognised as one of the cradles of #AI innovation. Students at the Stanford University School of Engineering will conduct hands-on research in the field of AI and its applications in the automotive industry. The goal: help advancing the AI-driven passenger experience. UCSD is renowned for its innovative 3D imaging research. The Autonomous Vehicle Laboratory, part of the Contextual Robotics Institute at UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering, focuses on image perception and data fusion for automated driving. Innovative 3D scene reconstruction from camera images could ultimately contribute to enhancing the safety of automated driving features. Mercedes-Benz is providing funding and support from its R&D team for each collaboration. And we’ll put the students’ academic research to the test in real-world applications. We’re thrilled to work with the next generation of innovators in what we consider some of the most exciting and most promising fields one can launch a career in.

Our President and CEO, Philipp Skogstad, hit the stage last week at the #MOVEAmerica2024, to share how we are envisioning the future of mobility through hyper-personalization and automated driving. Philipp shared how we are taking a proactive approach to meet customer needs by launching the #BetaProgram which allows us to quickly test and learn from customer feedback - an important step forward for Software-Defined Vehicles (#SDV). He also emphasized the need for cross-sector collaboration to speed up progress, saying, “How quickly we get there depends on how well we work together and meet customer needs. The future is #hyperpersonalized, #autonomous, and #electric - driven by customer demand.” Thank you to everyone who joined us and engaged in the lively discussion. MOVE: Mobility Re-imagined

We are excited to announce the opening of the "Charge Lab" as the latest addition to our Long Beach R&D center! This new facility not only boosts our on-site fast-charging capacity but also allows us to easily conduct charging tests of Mercedes-Benz EVs and PHEVs with #charging hardware and software from several top providers. The new #ChargeLab makes it easier and more efficient for our team to test the interoperability of our cutting-edge vehicles with the latest charging station hardware and software so that our customers can continue to enjoy compatibility and functionality with public charging stations regardless of hardware and software provider. This, combined with the talent and dedication of our industry-leading R&D team members, means that Mercedes-Benz drivers will always be up to date with the latest charging technology! #MBRDNA #LeadInElectric

Last week during #ClimateWeekNYC 2024, Mercedes-Benz hosted its second Sustainability Dialogue in the US, igniting a dynamic exchange of ideas with government officials and business leaders. Our very own Machine Learning Team Lead Faezeh Tafazzoli, led a compelling fireside chat on how AI can play a pivotal role in tackling climate change, the work we’re currently doing in AI, and the overall opportunity for AI in sustainability. A big thank you to our friends at Mercedes-Benz USA and Mercedes-Benz Manhattan for facilitating such an engaging conversation!

We are excited to launch the latest #Beta feature – Emergency Vehicle Alert, now live in the US! Emergency Vehicle Alert Beta addresses a common issue: drivers often hear emergency vehicle sirens but struggle to pinpoint their location, which can lead to confusion and potential accidents. Just picture how many times have you turned a corner and unexpectedly encountered a roadside incident with first responders? To remedy this, we’ve teamed up with HAAS Alert and its Safety Cloud® platform, who partners with thousands of public safety agencies across the country. As soon as participating emergency vehicles activate their warning lights, a signal is received by the #MercedesBenz Car-to-X cloud platform. The system monitors the area around your vehicle within a 3-9km radius and once a nearby emergency vehicle is detected, it appears on the navigation screen and the optional Head-Up Display. As you approach the emergency vehicle, an additional visual and acoustic alert provides additional warning to aid in safe navigation. This is a step forward in improving road safety - ensuring that emergency vehicles are detected early and drivers can respond promptly. We are excited to see the impact this Beta will have as we continue testing. ▶️ Sign up now via https://lnkd.in/dx-F_Xdj. To find out if your vehicle is eligible, open the Mercedes me App, click on the menu button and you will see a list of available Betas. Then toggle the Emergency Vehicle Alerts button to participate. #MercedesBenz #MBRDNA #Software #Safety #Innovation
