The City of Mt. Holly is embarking on a journey to honor the legacy of Ransom Hunter, a remarkable figure who transformed the Glendale Property from a humble homestead into a beacon of community and resilience. Born into slavery, Mr. Hunter's journey to freedom led him to establish a thriving homestead and support his community as a carpenter and blacksmith. His legacy of generosity extended to providing land for churches, schools, and homes for formerly enslaved families, embodying the spirit of an advocate for belonging by fostering an inclusive and supportive community. We are proud to be a part of the team helping in the allocation of funds for research, archeological studies, and the design of a new City park on the historic Glendale Property. This park will not only celebrate Mr. Hunter's contributions but also serve as a testament to the enduring spirit of community and history. Stay tuned as we embark on this transformative project together, creating a space that honors the past while advocating for a sense of belonging and unity for all. #AdvocateForBelonging #ParkandRecMonth #ParkandRecMonth24 #WhereYouBelong
