It feels like only yesterday when Jeff Nolan announced that Four Inc. had just signed a contract for our company name to be displayed on the left-center wall at Nationals Park. It was so cool to see our name out there during the baseball games. It's hard to believe it’s been six years. We only budgeted for the sign for that one season, those signs aren’t cheap!!! For those who don’t know we have embraced the color green in our logo at Four Inc. If you attend a public sector IT conference, you’ll see our reps dressed in mostly green attire. We are hard to miss in all our green. One of my favorite things about the color green is that it represents luck. And while I believe in luck, I've come to learn that it’s often a byproduct of something deeper—hard work, positivity, and determination. I believe true luck isn’t just random chance, it shows up when preparation meets opportunity. In those moments when we’re fully committed and doing our best, luck tends to find its target. The Nats won the World Series the one year Four Inc. put our sign on the outfield wall. In 133-107 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Detroit Pistons are now 2-16. While no one thought the Pistons were going to be a playoff team this year, no one expected them to be one of the worst teams in the League. When I looked at the Pistons Box Score this morning it was clear to me that among other things, they have a Lineup Construction Problem. The Starting Lineup of Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson, Isaiah Stewart, and Jalen Duren although very talented doesn't complement each other. If we focus purely on Offense, of the five players on the court only Stewart is an above average 3 Point Shooter. Duren doesn't shoot 3s and Thompson is shooting 11%. Ivey and Cunningham at this stage aren't good three point shooters either. In the modern NBA, the Pistons are throwing out a starting lineup that doesn't space the floor. They also don't have anybody who can operate in the mid-range. There was expectation that Cunningham would develop that part of his game, that hasn't come yet. Ivey is very much a slasher and a good finisher near the basket. The kicker is that apart from Jaden Ivey this Starting 5 doesn't have good finishers around the rim. How do you Build an Offense that doesn't have the tools to score on any of the three levels? The following day, he came off the bench against the New York Knicks, playing 13 minutes.
