Where will we be if doctors who are women – refuse to work the night shift at hospitals? Where will we be nurses who are women – refuse to work the night shift at hospitals? Will it only affect women? No. It will affect all genders and all ages. If doctors who are women are not safe – are patients who are women safe? No. They are not. The last week has shaken me to the core. My mind has gone back to my days doing night duties. I have shuddered as I recalled the times I have gone to various isolated corners of the hospital alone during the night – to ensure that my patients get the treatment they need on time. It could have been me. It could have been my doctor mom before me. As I watch a video where the victim’s neighbor recounts the horrific details of what she witnessed when she went with the parents to the crime scene (corroborated by the now viral post mortem report) – I can only call myself lucky to have escaped such a fate. How long can we rely on luck? There is viral story of deep-rooted corruption and abuse of power going around on social media. And it is being said that the rape and murder was an attempt to cover that up. There is a video of the anarchy that is being unleashed on protesting doctors. If you have a voice – demand investigation and swift justice. Demand it if you are a woman – because you may soon run out of luck. Demand it if you are a man – your mother, wife, sister and daughter may soon run out of luck and then so will you. Don’t keep quiet because you are not a doctor. Don't keep quiet because you are not a woman. Let us work towards ensuring that something like this never happens again.

Alcohol takes a tremendous toll on public health, causing a staggering number of otherwise preventable deaths each year. It is of the utmost importance that we drink responsibly and never drive under the influence. However, did you know that if someone was overserved and then caused injury to others, the establishment that overserved them can be held responsible? WHY DOES IT MATTER THAT SHE WAS A DOCTOR? As the country grieves the tragic loss of Dr. Moumita, I can't help but notice how people are forgetting why the issue is in greater highlight, and why the profession is an additional factor. Yes, all women are susceptible to this evil, but, 1. For doctors, night shifts are an unavoidable part of the job. It is imperative to have more stringent safety measures which are clearly non existent at this point. Tomorrow, if a police woman was violated, would you demand for stricter protection? Or would you ask for lady officers to not be given night shifts? 2. Doctors jeopardised their lives and saved numerous lives during a global pandemic, and continue sidelining themselves and their personal lives at the drop of a hat to cater to us. Even in the face of such a horrendous crime, nobody was denied medical assistance. The resistance that the state is showing to the community is very tragic. 3. It is always more impactful to have a community backing you. We have seen this happening in all professions. Belonging to a brethren and being supported by it has happened in all professions, and the legal, labour, police and other professional families would have the same outrage. We are all equally outraged, but we are supporting the medical community in voicing their protest and not appropriating a tragedy that has happened in their midst. Let us all be respectful and continue supporting the Doctors.

There may well be more road deaths. I was startled out of a dream again this morning when I looked at teletext. In my opinion, the message I read at that time is of great importance to the entire population of the world. Many things in our world change almost continuously, without anyone being annoyed by it, in fact those who benefit from it laugh at everything that appears in the news now. No more checks in the cities. The message I read was about the fact that there will be no increase in the number of speed cameras in the city center of large cities. The Public Prosecutor's Office, the agency responsible for, among other things, the safety of citizens in our country, is against this, it was stated in this message. In other words, against making society safer, and against protecting the defenseless citizen in our increasingly busy and anti-social traffic in the vulnerable inner cities. This even though a few weeks earlier it was announced that those same municipalities wanted to assign more police tasks, including speed enforcement, to the special investigating officers, because the police no longer had time for it! More traffic casualties allowed. To me, all of this shows once again what a mess it is in today's politics. Because if you take all this in well as a good citizen, then in my opinion politicians no longer care about the safety of us as citizens, and traffic offenders are given more and more space. Citizens' unrest about the formation? What is true about the prosecution's remark is also difficult to discover. These back-and-forth shouts between mayors of the big cities and members of the public prosecutor's office may also have something to do with the current formation talks. Perhaps everything is intended as a provocation, to increase the uncertainty of the forming parties. You may also notice that more and more politicians appear in our world who make remarks that then immediately disappear into thin air, without anyone ever doing anything with them. Too bad for all the turmoil that these people keep causing, and the fear that this causes in many people. I think as a politician in our country you live above the law, would this apply to all politicians in the whole world? It always feels as if political immunity is also going to apply to civil servants and members of the government. Shout what you think, the consequences are not for you anyway! Antonius (Ton) Bakker

Kush is a dangerous drug that's destroying the potential of our youth. It's high time we put an end to the infrastructure that promotes its usage. To achieve this, we must be honest with ourselves and address certain questions: Who brings these harmful drugs into the country? How do they get in? Who sells them? Where are the cartels? What is the role of the Ministry of Health, the police, the civil society, and community stakeholders in all of this? Is it not time to declare Kush as a public health emergency? Providing honest answers and taking deliberate actions will help us navigate our approach to solving this problem.

She wasn’t my kin, but she was close—closer than words can describe—because we shared the same profession. I can’t be even strong enough to understand the pain she felt, but I’m shattered, sleepless, and deeply depressed like many of us. I find some solace in knowing millions of us stand together, protesting against the injustice she faced even without ignoring the patient care. But it hurts even more to watch her superiors malign her, and politicians turn it into a farce—attacking her, our profession, our protest—as if to distract from their failure to protect us. It’s heartbreaking to see that the issue isn't just about doctors or nurses; it’s about everyone Mind it our non medico friends, If we don’t unite, the next tragedy could hit even closer to home because nothing will change unless we stand together. The government's divisive tactics can’t blind us to that reality. We VIMSARIANs stood in protest, demanding justice for our beloved colleague. - #JusticeForTilottama - #IMAPenDown - #StandWithDoctors - #ShameOnWBCM - #ProtectOurDoctors - #RGKarProtest - #HealthcareNotPolitics - #DoctorLivesMatter - #SolidarityWithMedicos - #UniteForJustice - #EndInjustice - #WeAreOne

Foregoing annual check ups is not masculine. It's irresponsible. 🥼 As men, we need to stop: - Dismissing preventing care visits - Ignoring recurring symptoms - Treating our bodies as tools 🚨 So many of us are still relying on our partner to schedule doctor's appointments. This emotional burden should not fall on the shoulders of women. We are not children. Taking care of our health is one of the most masculine step we can take for our family. It is an act of self-love. --- ✍️ Guys: do you experience anxiety related to preventive care visits? ♻️ Share this post if it resonates.
