From when I was old enough to reach the pedals of a skid loader until college, I spent hundreds of hours operating various farm and construction equipment. There was no PPE or formal training, just the instructions of "get your work done quickly, don't break anything, and don't be late for Goulash (for those outside the midwest..look it up) tonight at 7pm." Working in both agriculture and heavy construction is inherently dangerous work. I have several personal stories of relatives and people I know who were killed or injured while simply doing their job. Guys with limbs mangled by PTOs/grain augers, crushed by dozers, buried alive in a trench, a barn collapsing and killing someone after being loaded with hay... Little did I know I'd make a career out of educating, marketing, selling, and renting construction safety equipment for Street Smart. It's been very rewarding seeing the results of the solutions we provide. For me, there's nothing more motivating than hearing a new customer say "This product has made our job safer and more efficient...I wish I would have known about these five years ago..." In about 20 days, I'm lucky enough to be speaking and exhibiting at the Ariat Dirt World Summit where our team will be highlighting two of the major advantages that technology-enabled safety devices can provide to contractors: 1. Safety- Fewer boots on the ground exposed to distracted drivers and construction equipment. 2. Operational Efficiency- Yes, the same devices that increase safety can improve jobsite productivity. Need proof? Here's a recent example showing how our equipment allowed the contractor to move 52,000 yards of sand with haul trucks crossing a public roadway 5,400x, all without the need for a single traffic flagger. These signals provided "green-light priority" to the 20 yd. haul trucks, eliminating the need to slow down or stop to look for traffic. Please forward the post to others you think would be interested, and let's connect to help combat outdated safety practices. https://lnkd.in/g6MkvJJW

Why did we help our customer install temporary traffic signals directly in front of permanent traffic signals that were working perfectly fine? The power needed to be turned off to the permanent signals for several weeks for some upgrades and... 1. Installing span wire or staffing the intersection with flaggers 24/7 would have been expensive and impractical. 2. Installing stop signs to create a temporary four-way stop was not an option. 3. The customer requested them. They've rented temporary traffic safety equipment from Street Smart for many years and leaned on our team to deliver this custom solution, allowing the work to get done safely, quickly, and efficiently. If you're not on The Endpoint, you're missing out on connecting with maintenance pros like Chris! Learn more about his story and how you can join The Endpoint here ⤵️
Meet Chris Presley 👋 He's an Augury community member on The Endpoint. What do you do? 👉 I'm an Assistant Maintenance Manager with nearly two decades of maintenance experience. What's a moment in your role that you're proud of? 👉 The most rewarding experience was the diagnosis of a bad motor bearing on a bucket elevator and then, a few weeks later, a drive bearing. We were able to schedule these repairs and avoid the unplanned downtime. It reaffirmed that we made the right decision to implement continuous monitoring. What do you like to do outside of work? 👉 I spend my time with my young adult children and my first granddaughter. I enjoy anything outdoors—hiking and trail rides in my Ford Bronco most of all. Learn more about Chris and connect with him on The Endpoint here: https://bit.ly/3JSn2oW. #TheEndpoint | #Augury | #MaintenanceAndReliability
