It's finally Friday!! Last week we talked about Warzone and the ranking system. My friends and I have been slide canceling our way to Diamond 1 which is quite good considering the small amount of time we've played. This weekend we're putting ranked matches aside and trying something new made by Arrowhead Game Studios that I've heard so much about - Helldivers 2. This game has been all over Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, instagram and LinkedIn. Helldivers 2 is a third-person squad-based shooter game where the elite force Helldivers fight to win an intergalactic war against aliens. Players have the option to choose Strategems which are deployable air drops. These can consist of cluster bombs, sentry guns, shield generators, or supply pods containing specialized weaponry. Lucky Defense (by 111% 🇰🇷) is the most successful Tower Defense game launched in last 12 months, and leads the category in July IAP revenue. Finally got around to playing it, and IMO it’s quite delightful. 🤩 Of course, I’m from that generation of core gamers (raised on Warcraft), whose bucket list includes building a TD game. 📋✔️ Interestingly, this genre is pretty appealing in the current market, and has seen 246 launches in past 12m. Why?  TD is very hybrid-casual friendly, capable of producing >$10M / mo. hits of relatively modest scope.  👀 And, Rush Royale and other casual-leaning entrants have gradually grown / educated the market. In the case of Lucky Defense, I’d guess they’re earning 130% addl’ revenue from Ads, putting them well above $15M a month in July.
