Today, McCormick celebrates #Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Although the holiday memorializes the ending of an oppressive historical practice, it is also a call for us to honor the spirit of freedom, equity, and justice for all throughout the year. Together with the Black Employee Ambassadors of McCormick (BEAM) and PRISM Employee Ambassador Groups, McCormick recognized the day by providing lunch to employees at our Global Headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD. Rocky and Reggie Stubblefield, brothers and namesakes of the Stubb's brand, honored their family's legacy with flavor, fellowship, and sweet, savory, and smokey BBQ. Christopher B. “Stubb” Stubblefield, founder of the brand, told the world that his sauces were made with "love & happiness." Let's spread love and happiness not only today but for the future generations to come. Together, we can ensure that the struggles and triumphs of the past inspire a future filled with hope and opportunity for all.

In our final spotlight in celebration of this year’s Black History Month, we’re highlighting a leader who has spent his career in the food and service industry: Charmers Redd. When asked what Charmers loves about the food & beverage business, the answer was simple: the people. He believes we are in the people business, serving food — not the other way around. Keeping that in mind, it’s extremely important to form genuine connections and foster environments where people feel valued and understood. For anyone looking to enter the F&B industry, Charmers’ advice is this: “Prioritize empathy and understanding. Recognize that every interaction is an opportunity to make a positive impact on someone's day. Treat each person with respect, kindness, and attentiveness. Also, never underestimate the power of relationships. Networking within the industry can open doors to new opportunities and provide invaluable support and guidance along your journey. Remember, in our industry, people are at the forefront of everything we do. By putting people first and fostering meaningful connections, you'll not only succeed in your career but also contribute to the heart and soul of our business.”

#sustainability #nobelprize Burgers, fries, and soda, the American version of German meat and potatoes with a drink, from the icon of American cultural globalization, the golden arch of Ray Kroc’s McDonald’s, gave the comeback kid from Hope, Arkansas, Bill Clinton, a triple bypass. Taste and health cannot be more perfectly uncorrelated, -1, or are they perfectly correlated, 1, because what Clinton and Bill Gates consider taste is reality the lack of it? This lack of taste is giving the planet a nona-bypass along all the nine planetary boundaries, as the Amazon burns to let the cows graze to feed the world’s growing appetite for their flesh along with economic growth and aspiration of the one human family to converge. Gates wrote a book on climate. Invested in how to mitigate cows passing methane. But his addiction to money and cows remains, undermining both his book and investments. The way to save humanity is not to make rounds of both Norway and Sub Saharan Africa, far far above and far far below the equator, the Great White North and the Great Black South, but walking the talk on global sustainability. Does this sound good or do you want me to give you consent to talk about my vision to showboat and make a quick buck?
Growing up, my family spent a lot of time—and made a lot of great memories—at Burgermaster. My dad actually did a lot of early Gates Foundation work sitting in one of the corner booths at the Laurelhurst location—to the point that people even sent him mail there. Happy National Burger Day to all who celebrate.

I had the privilege of joining some of the brightest minds Sysco Canada Inc. for a Black History Month celebration that truly stood out. Sysco Canada Inc. didn't just host an event; they created a vibrant, safe space for meaningful dialogue on advancing inclusivity and diversity. Their approach was noteworthy, not only for the recognition of challenges but more so for their commitment to ongoing action. They laid out a clear strategy and set measurable goals, showcasing a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of Black and racialized communities. This initiative serves as a shining example of how continuous, collective efforts and accountability can lead to significant progress. By valuing and acting upon diverse voices, we move closer to a world where everyone is empowered to thrive. This commitment from Sysco Canada should inspire others to take similar steps, turning isolated gestures into a consistent, united pursuit of justice and equality. We are immensely thankful for the support and solidarity from our allies and encourage a broader call to action: to embrace inclusivity, challenge systemic inequalities, and work tirelessly towards a more equitable world. The path may be long, but with determination, empathy, and unity, significant strides can be made. Sysco Canada Inc. #blackhistorymonth #blackexcellence #diversityequityandinclusion #allyship #canada

I am simply in Awe. This was a personal moment of encouragement because often when I think of the first 18 years of my life, these were not the stories that I was aware of. Of course, this happened over the last 50-60 years. I can see the whole story and remain.."I AM INSPIRED TO CONTINUE PURSUING MY DREAM of leaving a Legacy for my family"! My Pitch Deck! https://lnkd.in/gUWQj5_5

We honor the trailblazers who have left an indelible mark on our society through their leadership and commitment to improving lives, and as we celebrate Black History Month, i. Bernard J. Tyson, healthcare executive extraordinaire and former CEO of Kaiser Permanente, the first African-American to have this role, was one such visionary leader whose legacy continues to inspire us. Dr. Tyson, who sadly passed away much too soon, was a steadfast advocate for equitable healthcare, believing in the power of action when action has to happen no matter the obstacles. "Don't ask for permission to help improve the lives of the people in the communities you're pledged to serve, but instead march through the doors of red tape, make bold moves and usher in access." - Bernard J. Tyson Tyson's leadership was not just about managing one of the largest healthcare providers in the U.S.; it was about challenging the status quo, breaking down barriers to healthcare access, and ensuring that every individual, regardless of their background, had the opportunity to lead a healthy life. His approach to leadership—marked by boldness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to community service—serves as a beacon for all of us. In remembering Bernard J. Tyson during Black History Month, let's not only reflect on his contributions but also embody his ethos in our actions. Let us be inspired to make bold moves, challenge red tape, and tirelessly work to improve the lives of those in our communities. His legacy is a reminder that leadership is about much more than titles or accolades; it's about making a tangible difference in the lives of others. #Leadership #BlackHistoryMonth #BernardJTyson #Healthcare #Innovation #CommunityService

I know it's a little late but I wanted to share how me and a few co-worker celebrated Black History month this year. We wanted to highlight a black-owned restaurant so we went to Monarch Market and tried Rolled AF which specializes in modern Mexican food. In celebrating Black History Month, NorthBay Health invited a number of our Excellent Black leaders to share thoughts on a variety of topics. I feel that fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace stands as a cornerstone of effective leadership. As a manager, I recognize the paramount importance of cultivating an environment where every team member feels not just welcomed, but empowered to contribute meaningfully. In celebrating Black History Month, NorthBay Health invited a number of our Excellent Black leaders to share thoughts on a variety of topics. Today meet Melinda Powell, Infection Prevention Program Manager, who answers the question: Can you share insights on the importance of diversity in the workplace, based on your experiences? Diversity in the workplace assures the acceptance and inclusion of employees from all backgrounds. Diversity in the workplace recognizes the strengths and the potential each individual employee in the organization. Diversity provides our organization with access to a broader range of talent and creativity that assists with removing barriers and limitations on organizations achievements. Diversity increases innovation, creativity and strategic thinking by allowing people from different backgrounds to use their unique experiences to draw a wider range of knowledge to spark new, innovative ideas. Diversity may also foster stronger employee relationships that connect on a deeper level, based on their backgrounds or shared experiences, which improves workplace collaboration. Being more inclusive and diverse helps provide vision into the needs, inspiration and motivations of all of NorthBay Health’s customer base and also helps develops trust within the community. Diverse representation helps drive success, builds trust in the organization within the community and among the staff. #NBBlackHistoryMonth24 #BlackHistoryMonth2024
