My 11-year-old daughter has relocated 7 times during my service but this is not unusual… Military children experience 6 to 9 moves during their K-12 school years. Frequent moves can pose challenges, including adjusting to new schools, making new friends, and adapting to different environments. 🌸 April is indeed the Month of the Military Child. It's a time dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the resilience and sacrifices made by military children. Supporting military children in a civilian community involves several key steps: 👉🏻 Education and Awareness: Raise awareness within the community about the unique challenges military children face, such as frequent relocations and parental deployments. 👉🏽 Partnerships: Collaborate with local schools, organizations, and businesses to create support networks tailored to military children. This could include offering counseling services, tutoring programs, or scholarships.Inclusive 👉 Flexible Policies: Implement flexible policies in schools and organizations to accommodate the needs of military families, such as flexible enrollment procedures or extended deadlines for assignments. 👉🏻 Mentorship Programs: Establish mentorship programs where military children can connect with older peers or adults who understand their unique experiences and can offer guidance and support. 👉🏿 Cultural Sensitivity: Educate community members about military culture and etiquette to foster understanding and empathy towards military children and their families. #military #airforce #navy #army #spaceforce #marines #veterans #education #parenting #resilience

Technology is not a replacement for the uniformed service member in combat. However, the term "defense innovation" seems to refer exclusively to technology platforms designed to carry out military tasks in lieu of service members. It almost never refers to solutions that improve the quality of life for uniformed service members themselves - despite our deepening manning crisis. Make no mistake - the most enduring competitive advantage that America has are the young men and women who don the uniform, particularly their ingenuity, experience, and leadership in combat. But we haven't figured out how to modernize the systems that exist for keeping military service members and their families healthy, happy, and educated. At a deeper level, we haven't figured out how to sustain and grow the sense of community and purpose that motivates service members to stay in the military. That's why I'm interviewing 100 1stSgts and SgtMajs in the United States Marine Corps (gonna keep it close to home to start) to learn what gaps we need to fill in order to make military life attractive once again. If you'd like to get a copy of the white paper or have thoughts on this topic, please comment on this post. The realities of military service, deployments, training, and operational duties places significant constraints on female active-duty military members — especially those in communities like Naval Aviation, the Air Force, and the Space Force. Women in these careers often experience the most obstacles to family building. These women deserve to be recognized for the sacrifices they make and offered comprehensive healthcare that includes support for family building. See how we're supporting servicewomen in these communities. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ef5wGrwk #infertilitysupport #militaryinfertility #militaryfamilysupport #familybuilding

The military profession requires much more of a family commitment than nearly all other career choices. A commitment to military service truly has the potential to be 24/7/365 for both the servicemember and if married, for the spouse and dependents. The military is an ecosystem that encompasses the professional, personal, service and learning aspects of life for both the servicemember and the family. For example, during scheduled deployments and detachments or sudden TDYs, having a solid family foundation and good action plans are imperative. The services provide much support to military members to make these times of separation from family and home port successful. What about separation in another sense - separation from the military? The transition from military life also requires thoughtful planning and support. Just like a deployment, a military member should do one thing in the transition from the military back to the civilian life: make a plan. All the steps and milestones should be integrated into that plan. We specialize in helping military members and their families make this transition a successful one. FREE. If you have 12 to 15 months of service left and are considering your next step and your next stops, have a plan. #ForceDesignFriday January 1957. The original force design report for the Marine Corps? Probably not, but perhaps one of the most well known and lengthy. The 1957 report titled, “Report of the Fleet Marine Force Organization and Composition Board,” commonly referred to as the Hogaboom Report, approaches 500 pages. The report details the primary and secondary missions of a unit, concept of employment, along with administrative and logistical capabilities. The report also includes the major equipment and number required for each type unit. One of the many assumptions of the document is, “Armed conflict in this time period has a considerable probability of being limited to the small war type action.” #defense #strategy #military #defense #usmc #Marines #secuirty #forcedesign #history
