As a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), WarCollar’s commitment to veterans is at the core of who we are. Our very own Rochelle Ranson is participating in the DAV 5K because she believes in giving back, not only for herself, but for her friends, family, and coworkers who are disabled veterans. For WarCollar Industries, LLC supporting causes like the DAV 5K means more than sponsorship—it’s about honoring the sacrifices made by our military veterans, active-duty service members, and their families, many of whom are part of our own workforce. We recognize the immense value these individuals bring, and initiatives like this reflect our company’s dedication to creating a supportive, inclusive environment for veterans and their families. From an HR perspective, this initiative underscores WarCollar’s mission to build a culture that values service, dedication, and community. When we rally behind causes that support veterans, it strengthens our employees’ sense of purpose and pride in working for a company that is not only veteran-owned but deeply committed to veteran well-being. It shows our current and future team members that WarCollar is more than just a workplace—we are a family that stands by those who have served and continue to serve. The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) organization supports over 1 million veterans annually by providing essential services—from medical care to financial assistance, education, and employment opportunities—all free of charge. Your support can make a difference. By contributing to this cause, you’re helping veterans and their families access the resources they need and deserve. The 34-page decision from my district is both disappointing and unsurprising. There's no question that Congress needs to intervene here, and I am hopeful that there will be an appeal. I want to extend my appreciation to the Special Operations Association of America and the other excellent organizations for highlighting this issue to both Congress and the American public. The core of the district court's concern (second paragraph, page six) seems to be the initial Congressional budget estimates, which sharply contrast with the later, exponentially higher costs brought on by — it must be said — the unseemly advertising tactics of plaintiffs' attorneys (the contaminated wells at issue closed decades ago, so blasting stock imagery nationwide on repeat of healthy, young servicemembers born long after the clear legal criteria didn’t help). Side issue: veterans, seriously, we’ve got to talk about stock imagery…particularly around mental health and medications… By emphasizing the potential financial implications (runaway costs), the district court appears to have introduced an ‘artificial’ sense of ambiguity around Congressional intentions, thereby inadvertently reinforcing the Feres Doctrine and Qualified Immunity. This stands in stark opposition to what was unequivocally clear Congressional intent, which SOAA captured nicely. The analysis and writing of the district court align more with what I would expect from federal agencies and those entrenched in D.C. politics; regrettably, we are now witnessing this approach from the judiciary too.
Yet another roadblock for victims of the contaminated water supply at Camp Lejeune. The United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina issued an order that strikes the right to a jury trial for these victims, despite explicit language in the Camp Lejeune Justice Act (CLJA) ensuring this right. This move by the DOJ is unacceptable. We brought together a coalition of Veterans Service Organizations to send a letter to Congress expressing our collective concern regarding the DOJ and Navy’s latest attempt to avoid responsibility for the suffering endured by these Veterans and their families. We urge Congress not to accept this ruling. They must stand with Veterans to clarify their right to a jury trial, as intended by the CLJA's congressional authors. It's time for the government to step up and take responsibility for its actions. Read our letter and see how you can get involved: https://lnkd.in/gDdcJc5Y #camplejeune #justiceforcamplejeune #veterans #standwithourheroes #supportveterans #doj #navy

Buddy checks are crucial for our veterans' well-being. It might seem like a simple task, but have you ever wondered, how do you do it? Here are some tips to help you execute a buddy check... Speak Up. Show Up. Settle In. 💙 Don't be afraid to ask the hard questions. Physically create a presence in this persons life, however this makes sense to you. If someone welcomes you in... settle in. Don't be afraid to get uncomfortable, to provide comfort to those are hurting. #BuddyChecks #SupportOurVeterans #StepUpFoundation #supportourveterans #veteranmentalhealth #veterans #veteransupport #Fundraisers

Food insecurity is defined as lacking access to reasonably priced and nutritious food of adequate quality. Our latest Research Spotlight article highlights an important cross-sectional study from SSAFA the Armed Forces charity, Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and the Northern Hub for Veterans and Military Families Research. The study explores the proportion of ex-Service personnel affected by food insecurity and identifies key factors associated with food insecurity within the #Veteran population. While most #Veterans transition smoothly into civilian life, some face service-related challenges that expand the federal governments capacity to address. For those of us in the #VeteranSpace, the need often feels, unending. Consequently, communities, often unfamiliar with #military needs, must support these Veterans. Well intentioned people across #nonprofits, #government, and #CharitableOrganizations, assume what a Veteran needs, and often duplicate services or put resources into solving a problem that doesn't exist. At Veterans Bridge Home, collective impact, remains at the forefront of our mission. Using technology systems like Unite Us with our community partners like Mecklenburg County, North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and The Jeff Cohen Charitable Foundation allows for us to provide wrap around services across the social determinates of health. Even better? We can document those instances to demonstrate what #CharlotteVeterans greatest needs currently are and target our efforts on ensuring those partnerships remain strong. #VeteransBridgeHome #BeTheBridge
