On the last day of CTE Awareness Month, I want to thank all those who helped raise awareness about CTE this month. Whether you shared a post, read up on CTE, or donated, your actions are greatly appreciated!
This month we explored what CTE is, its symptoms, who is impacted, and actions to help limit the development of CTE in youth, athletes, military service members, and Veterans.
Preventing CTE is part of the long game, but there are actions we can take now that will make a difference for young people in sports. Repetitive head impacts children receive playing contact sports can cause CTE and derail their future.
At CLFC, we support delaying repetitive head impacts until at least the age 14 to significantly reduce the risk of developing CTE. I also encourage parents and coaches to advocate for this measure across all sports in Canada. This reform promotes smart and safe play, and puts the focus of sports on learning proper techniques, wearing appropriate protective gear, understanding the rules of the game, and ultimately helping prevent early cases of CTE.

As CTE Awareness Month comes to a close, the team at CLFC wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us in raising awareness of CTE.
By spreading awareness, sharing information, and engaging in conversations, you've played a vital role in bringing attention to the importance of brain health and injury prevention. Your efforts have helped shine a light on the challenges faced by those affected by CTE and have contributed to building a more supportive and informed community.
Although CTE Awareness Month may be ending, our commitment to combating this disease remains steadfast. Let's continue to educate, advocate, and support initiatives aimed at understanding and preventing CTE. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of individuals impacted by brain injuries and work towards a world without CTE.
