Taking care of our most PRECIOUS resource in Arizona, WATER! President, Bartholomew Water Services, Inc.
Did Your Water Engineer Plan a Self-Scouring Drainage System … But Failed to Build it That Way? I’ve seen this happen time and again. The engineer at a real estate development site plans a nice, self-scouring wastewater slope. But something gets lost between the planning and the construction phases. The grade of the slope is built too shallowly. If it falls under 2%, you have to apply for a variance from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. Which, in turn, means added expenses. Increased service visits. More frequent inspections. Ridiculous. And completely unnecessary if you’d hired an expert to consult with your team from the start. If you’re a real estate developer working in Arizona, you can avoid headaches and unforeseen expenses by calling Bartholomew Water Services. Right from the get-go, we’ll make sure the job is done right. From there, it’s like water flowing downhill. (You see what I did there?) (Of course, you did.) The City of Waterbury, Connecticut, has selected construction firm @Jacobs en to operate and maintain its 38 million-gallon-per-day conventional surface water treatment plant, according to a company press release. The city estimates the 10-year contract value at $25 million. Jacobs scope of work includes engineering services and support for improvements to the overall facility, sludge system, water quality lab and treatment process, according to the release. That enhanced treatment will be achieved through upgrades to the chemical dosing system, water filtration and sludge handling facilities, said Greg Fischer, Jacobs vice president of operations, maintenance, facility services and design-build. Congrats to both City of Waterbury and Jacobs on this project. This ties nicely to my work on water, especially on need to revisit water conservation policies as part of better water management practices. As CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) and Customer Success Manager (Data and AI), I am all about the best practices including solutions that can apply to better management of areas like water.
